“This is a Winner!”
Reviewed 24 October 2005

Just returned from a month trip doing a 6 day safari in Bottswana and then a few days in Capetown before driving the Garden Route. We finished at Leeuwenbosch, a private game reserve outside of Port Elizabeth. I believe that they have about 17,000 acres there. The place is owned by Bill and Rosemary Foulds and they take you into their place as if you are family. Dinners are eaten with all of the guests, a great little pub downstairs where you can party all night (which Bill is usually up for!) Our guide Riche was fabulous and went way out of his way to make sure that we saw every animal that we wanted. Even did a land safari and got very close to Cheetahs.

This is not inexpensive, it is not high end glitzy but it is a wonderful, hospitable experience. Ask for the Shearers Lodge or if you are very adventuresome there is a cabin way up on a hill that you can stay in. Pretty remote and spartan but unbelievably romantic.
