“The most beautiful hotel in Mauritius”
Reviewed 29 February 2012

We spent 14 days at Four Season Anahita. The hotel is very quiet, beautiful gardens top maintained, a lot of space at the beach & in the three restaurants. The staff is very service minded & friendly. The villas are spacious with top beds and a very nice bathrooms. You have three restaurants: the mainrestaurant serves outstanding stakes and other nice dishes in a beautiful surrounding, the italian restaurant has native italian cooking including pizzas from a pizzaoven, the beachrestaurant serves fresh seafood and local dishes. To regulate the too many calories we plaid golf on the new Anahita golf course. It is one of the top courses now in Mauritius. The fairways are generous and some holes are just besides the ocean. Even if you do not stay at Four Season you should take a chance to play on it.

It is our 3rd stay on Mauritius. This resort is in my opinion the one which cannot be toped at the moment.

This is a beautiful hotel, on a beautiful estate , the rooms (villas) are great, lovely outdoor shower, wonderful bed.......though our garden villa was dark due to the high trees nearby. We loved the golf course - wonderful service though the marshalling was poor - more attention needed. The internal walkways are sometimes as busy as the M1 - nobody except us, walked anywhere.
The hotel markets itself predominately to the far eastern market and a lot of services are geared this way - not always to a European taste.

BUT it was boring and there were too many little problems. Why deliver mangoes to the villa without a napkin or knife? Why give an arrival such as us who had travelled 24 hours a room with no water due to repairs? Why did no one clear up the mess on our walkway for the 10 days we were there? Why were the breakfasts always cold? Frankly we think management has taken their eyes off the ball - they were conspicuous by their invisibility.
The hotel just needs some pizzazz and some flair........but it is beautiful - some imagination needed and it could be truly wonderful.

This was our fifth trip to the island of Mauritius and having been lucky enough to stay at some of the islands best resorts our expectations were high and the Four Seasons certainly lived up to the mark. We booked for a week in August to relax and play golf, the appeal of complementary golf was appealing and the course was amazing, with dramatic costal views on most holes and helpful staff with reasonably good course martials. On a couple of occasions we were given buggies that were running short of battery and gave up half way around (a tad annoying) but they were quickly replaced. The facilities at the hotel were excellent, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful, equally the housekeeping staff were at tentative enough to work around our daily routine. The room itself was amazing (lagoon access) and has ample space to act as a private retreat to relax and switch off, reading books or watching tv. Being situated directly on the lagoon we had great sunset views and a nice breeze. Breakfasts were by far my favorite meal of the day, great choice buffet choices with freshly cooked options. This is not a huge resort so the restaurants and menu choices can get slightly repetitive by the end of a week. Only a few small things could Have turned a brilliant holiday into perfection, heating in the plunge pool (it was really cold in aug), more consistent service at dinner (some nights brilliant and others debatable). If you are used to bigger resorts or a very active holiday then you may get bored after 7-10 days but all round the four seasons is really hard to beat, particularly if you play golf. For a chill out week with friends or family then it comes highly recommended.

If you are like me and you only read the first few lines to get a feel for a review then here it is. I am the fussiest person I know and we travelled for 10 days with my children (5 of them aging from 15 to 5) to the resort over New Year (their busiest time) and it was fantastic. There were a couple of really minor points which irritated me but other than that it was perfect.

Now for the details....The room we stayed in was a 3 bedroom garden Villa the layout and design were really good, lots of space and a practical layout. The large 2nd bedroom easily had space for a 3rd bed for my 5 year old. The outdoor showers were a real hit with the kids as was the large plunge pool in the garden.... which was big and very deep and for the small ones more than good enough to play in rather many hotels where they are only just big enough to use for a dip to cool down.

The beach is Beautiful white sand with sun bed well spaced out so that you had lots of privacy and right next to the pool so we could go down to the general area and swap between the sea and the pool without moving sun beds. There are also beds by both of the pools which, whilst they were closer together, are still not overcrowded. There are two pools and the kids one had 2/3 of the edge as a walk in rather than steps which was fantastic. The Bamboo restaurant runs down the side of the pool onto the beach and is great for breakfast and eating during the day... Pool side drinks and ice cream were available all day with people walking about rather than you having to go in search of them...

The food was varied and we didnt feel the like we were stuck in the resort.... We ate in all the restaurants when we were there (3) and they are varied and all have different characteristics. the children made their own pizzas in the Italian, fed the fish in the Main restaurant and played on the beach when we ate in Bamboo.... over the New year there was a fantastic variety of themed evenings, the Indian one being the best, but they worked very well for the children as we could all eat as soon as we got there but we could sit at the table and have a drink after dinner whilst they went off an played on the beach.

They also set up a "Lounge" I am not sure if they do this outside the Xmas season but this was a hit the older children and my husband and I, it was basically an outdoor disco with lazer show on the beach with a separate bar area. We couldnt hear the music from our villa but perhaps it would have affected some of the accommodation.... worth checking.

We had in room dinning on a couple of occasions in the evening and half of the time for breakfast. It was fantastic quality always came in hot cabinets so stayed hot and arrived on time....

5 out of 7 of us used the gym virtually every day and whilst it is quite small it is well equipped and more than adequate to work off the excessive food intake whilst you are there, there is also a lap pool in the gym ...

Two complaints... The buggy service is dire when you are away from your villa, we regularly ordered a buggy to take us back to the room from the restaurants and beach and it would take 20 minutes to arrive and there is no real system for calling one. Also the bike situation, they dont have enough for everyone on the resort and half of the ones they do have are very poor quality, this may not be an issue iof you go outside peak times, so there is a waiting list.... in reality that means when you get a bike and take it to the beach it is likely to get stolen.... we have 7 bikes and 25 incidents of them being taken including my 5 year olds which was really very annoying...

All in all fab place would recommend it to anyone going to Mauritius....

Room Tip: We stayed in 309 but all the rooms looked beautiful...

My wife and I honeymooned here shortly after the resort opened. We were there for a week and absolutely loved it. The attention to detail, fresh flowers and fruit, bicycles to explore, tennis lessons with Karl were all just perfect. A short boat ride over to Ile cerfs was easy to do and so much fun. The restaurants were great...the breakfasts in particular were really delicious.

The private pool in the room was often too cold to get into, but good for a quick refreshing dip. The staffing ratio was really ridiculous...we felt we were waited on hand and foot, but not obtrusively. When we needed something, they showed up quickly. In particular, the privacy was impressive. I would strongly recommend this, and plan to return.

Room Tip: The oceanfront rooms with private pools are like a little slice of heaven.

This is an excellent resort hotel. It pains me to say that we didnt leave the resort for the 10 days we were there - most uncharacteristic of us...but then why would we...

Greeted on arrival by friendly staff (we used a local taxi which seemed more reasonably priced), we were shown to a beautiful room with its own pool, amazing bathroom and very comfy bed. We were supplied with 2 bikes which was fun. on arrival we had a couple of bottles of bubbly bought from duty free - this was almost encouraged by the guy who showed us to our room - so nothing to be shy about and a good saving on the hotel rate!

We used the gym every day which was well stocked with machines and quiet. The golf course is very good - els style with tricky approaches but given the standard of the majority of players - (some may not have played before by the looks of things) - fun for all involved.

Food was excellent - the italien place being my favourite. Breakfast was plentiful and the wine list was well balanced and not over the top. I am normally concerned about half board but there was no need to be...

My wife used the spa - and said it was great - she is a conossuier of such things, whereas i played golf, and sunbathed. The hotel manager was a very nice guy - knowing his brand and treating the guests to a weekly drinks party.
