“Great escape - Four Seasons does it again.”
Reviewed 24 April 2012

Our family had a great time relaxing at the resort. The teens enjoyed water skiing, tubing, kayaking and of course, the pools. The service was friendly and efficient; as expected of Four Seasons. Our villa was very spacious and comfortable, even when we added a last minute guest to our travel. Loved the outdoor showers and the beds were heavenly! The resort provides complimentary bicycles - very handy for exploring and a bit of exercise. How else would you get to see the tortoises?
Easter holidays brought many families with small children, a bit more than I'd expect at Four Seasons. The main pool was a bit noisy at times.
All in all a great stay - but do get outside the resort and experience Mauritius. Black River Gorges area with waterfalls, Casela Nature Park, Blue Bay Marine Reserve - accessible by car from resort.

Room Tip: Ocean villas facing the lagoon are very private with views out toward the reef. The beach on the la...

Four Seasons Mauritius is an excellent place. My family and I had a wonderful time there, although there were a few things that kept me from a 5* rating.

- The WiFi
Despite what you would expect, the WiFi is not free. In my opinion, this is absolutely unforgiveable. We went to a different resort after the Four Seasons, which was more cheaply priced and had free WiFi THOUGHOUT the hotel, even on the beach and in the rooms. It's inexcusable that a hotel as nice as the Four Seasons does not have free WiFi throughout.

-The Staff at Karokan
I am a 14-year-old girl, and so the staff at a teen club (ages 22 and 21) should not be flirting with me. This made my stay very uncomfortable at times because despite the fact that I wanted to use the facilities at Karokan, I didn't want to go there because the staff was very inappropriate. At the very least, hire a woman along with men.

So all in all, nice hotel, but there are some things that are not of the Four Seasons standard.

We stayed here March 2012 for our two week honeymoon and had a great and really relaxing time. We were made to feel really welcome, especially by some of the staff and apart from a few rainy days thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon.

The facilities here are excellent. On arrival we were met at reception and my Wife got some flowers and we were taken to our room which we thought looked really special. We had a garden villa which was certainly good enough for us. We used most of the facilities here and a special mention must go to the guys in Karokan who are so helpful and friendly and are a credit to the hotel. We were amazed at the amount of work these guys do especially considering some of the guests seem to just dump their kids on them whenever they wanted and some of these kids seemed to be extremely spoiled to say the least. Maybe these parents should try being parents for a change and teach their kids some manners. The facilities are great though, 3 restaurants, a business center, the golf club, the beaches, the fitness center all excellent. The only thing we didn't use was the spa. The reason was because it seemed to be more based around beauty than anything else. The beaches are lovely and the service on the beaches great.

Some of the meals we had here were excellent although both of us aren't really seafood people and we found ourselves eating much of the same things which can become a bit tedious over 2 weeks. In particular we really liked the Italian restaurant which was great quality. The staff at the Italian, especially the floor staff are awesome, so polite and friendly. We do have some issues\complaints in terms of food\beverage. The first, would be that Beau Champ is supposed to be a grill. We tried 3 times in just over a week here to go specifically for New York strip and they never had. They did cook us a special meal in the Italian on the last night though which more than made up for it. Also, the food and drink is vastly overpriced. Ok, most of the people who go here seem to have too much money but how can they justify 1 beer costing 200 when 2 identical beers in the capital cost 160? The same with the food, it is nice and good quality but you get just as good a meal out-with the hotel at a local restaurant for half the price.

Location here is stunning, the views and the setting is really beautiful. We did feel a bit secluded at times as you can't just walk out of the hotel anywhere really but given the fact they have almost everything on-site we can overlook that here.

All in all we had a fantastic honeymoon here. We definitely will remember for years to come although not sure we would go back as we feel we did so much when on the Island (which is absolutely stunning in places) that we would really have much to go back for.

Thanks to everyone, especially the guys in Karokan for a great experience.

We spent a week at the Four Seasons, ending 21April 2012. We had our 16 month old daughter with us and our nanny. Overall, we wish we had spent two weeks rather than one.

The kids club is excellent, good staff who seem to enjoy what they are doing and importantly the kids enjoyed playing with each other and being there. I would guess there was about 30 children there on average per day. There was a good children's pool (50cm deep) and several other games rooms and things for the children to do. If your child is under 3 you either need to bring your own nanny or hire one.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom Villa which was in excellent condition, with a decent sized plunge pool. The bedrooms are a good size and the bathrooms excellent, with outdoor shower etc

The two bedrooms have a well equipped kitchen which is important if you have small children.

The rooms have wifi, about 25 dollars per day. A general comment is the place is not cheap, but the service and quality is worth it.

Restaurants are good, italian is very good.

Golf course is excellent and there is another on a private island nearby that I didn't get to play on, but I'm told by some friends that it's even better than the hotels course.

We were a little concerned about the weather, the forecast was for rain most days. While it did rain for Parts of some days, it was always warm and generally there was only one day that the rain significantly impacted our plans.

Spa is excellent, gym is OK.

The crowd was multicultural, a few Americans, lots of Europeans - mainly Brits, Russians and French would be my guess and a few Africans.

Overall, a great a experience, highly recommended. We have been to a few four seasons, comparatively speaking This one is better for kids than the Seychelles, but they are both good.

Travelling with three small children and our nanny we were looking for a kid friendly resort that doesn't compromise on service and quality for adults. In this regard the Four Seasons has never disappointed us and we have been to many.
We had already visited two years ago and had very much enjoyed our stay. The resort itself is stunning and the rooms are spacious, very well thought out and tastefully decorated. We had stayed in a one bedroom on the beach two years ago but adopted a two bedroom garden villa this year. We are always disappointed with "garden views" but this villa's was beautiful with a wonderful patio overlooking the lush tropical garden and pond beyond. You can barely see the other villas around you. The plunge pools also get bigger with the bigger villas. The only issue we had is that we didn't use our pool because it was freezing cold and we didn't realise it had heating until our last day.
The kids club is lovely with lots of interesting activities planned for the children. I did notice however that the staff at the kids club was not as attentive and engaging with the children as during our prior visit.
The golf course is stunning and challenging but can get quite crowded over the main holidays. It is adjacent to the anahita resort and although I believe it is labelled as the four seasons golf club I got the impression most people came from the anahita resort so I assume they must have privileges as well. The organisation of the tee time schedule was a bit disorganised but fortunately the other golfers we encountered were all very considerate and friendly and we were able to sort it out between ourselves.
We very much enjoyed the pools and the beach. Even in peak season and a fully booked hotel we never felt that it was too crowded or that the service faltered. It was excellent in every regard. The food is phenomenal in all three restaurants as is the variety of the produce offered and the wine selection.
I found the time to enjoy a spa treatment as well and it was clearly one of the best I had ever had.
We very much enjoyed our holidays and will be back very soon.

It was long journey to get here but it didn't disappoint. The villas and services are second to none. lots of activities to choose from while you are in the resort. You should try a little bit of everything to get a full taste of what this place has to offer.

Food wise, Breakfast was fantastic, you can order dishes from the kitchen and also grab other stuff from buffet area. The breakfast is set in the main restaurant, which is over the water and open air. you get to enjoy the ocean breeze while having wonderful food. there are 3 restaurants to choose from for dinner. The asian/indian restaurant was just ok, mainly because i have a high standard of asian food. The italian one is fine, food is not out of this world, but good quality. The main restaurant serves steak.

A few recommendation for budget conscious travellers: first, go at the end of the low season and beginning of the high season (starts in October), the weather is much better than previous months and can still get low season price; second, take the half-board offer or hotel credit offer, it will reduce your extra expenses as dinner can get expensive; third, ask for a free jet-lag message at the spa if was not offered at your check-in.

Overall, great experience staying at four seasons mauritius. I would recommend this place to friends if the right deal comes along.
