Probably the most common picture of this part of the Swedish coast is this wooden walkway! Here there are many shops in season selling souvenirs and clothes mainly to the influx of Norwegian and Swedish summer visitors. Mainly closed off season but some of the fish restaurants stay open as they are run by fishermen whip are there all year. It can get very crowded in peak time with many visit boats.

I've been here several times every summer since the 1970's. It has changed some, nowadays there are more food vendors and actually less sales of rubbish. Lots of boats and people to check out. The pier is rather shielded from the constant sea winds. This place is a must to see and it is definitely a good place to spend half a day. I recommend you to check if the miniscule village museum nearby is open, it is charming.

Good place to relax and look at boat lying near by the wooden pier. The atmosphere is nice with a nice view and the shop and restaurants. Good place for summer, take a walk, a bit shopping, having ice cream and walk to the end of the pier. Moreover just a mile before the bridge. The view as just excellent...I went up and picnic with my freind..That was such a nice time..the sea the view..is amazing.... anyway something is pricey but its interesting place to visit..Enjoy.

Smögen is a small seaside town in West Sweden that is best known as a party stop for young boaters. You can pull your boat right up to the main pier and immediately you have a bunch of shops, restaurants, and bars around you, only a step from your boat. This pier area is the main attraction in Smögen, and in the summer it is crawling with people.

Everyone walks the pier, looks in the shops, then takes an ice cream or beer on one of the patios, then walks around some more. That's pretty much what there is to do here. There is a RIB boat you can take (cold and bumpy), a ferry to Hållö (deserted rocky island), and a ferry to Kungshamn (another smaller marina town), and segways you can rent. You can walk to downtown from here, which isn't too fascinating but kind of cozy. Mostly you have piles of sailboats flying Swedish and Norwegian flags (occasionally German), parked six boats deep, with sailors lounging half-naked with beers in hand.

There are about 6 restaurants maybe - from seafood bistros to cafes, and most have outdoor seating in the summer. Quite a few shops to look in. There are no sandy beaches nearby. Not much for kids to do here, some were fishing for crabs using a line tied to a clothespin holding a shrimp. Surprisingly we did see it work once. There is a mini-golf place also within walking distance up a hill.

Smögen is a typical seaside town in West Sweden, all painted in white and red, no trees just rocks, lots of sailboats, beer, and people just enjoying the rarely seen sunshine. If you're in the area, it's worth a few hours to walk around and check it out, but really it's best for boaters.

Nice to walk around and look at all the boats.
Some things are very pricey. How about ONE scoop of icecream for 3 USD/ 2,5 EUR?
The restaurants are priced a little more than average.
