A-Na-Lay Resort Koh Kood
Ranked #13 of 14 Hotels in Ko Kut
Reviewed 20 January 2014

We didn't actually stay in this resort, but got lured in by the bar, since our resort didn't have one and was a little too quiet at night for our taste. A-Na-Lay has got a nice beach and it's a perfect spot for snorkeling: the fish were literally swarming around me when I stepped off the ladder on their pier, and there is a huge variety of fish and corals, don't understand why they would even organise a snorkeling trip :-).

After reading reviews for most of the resorts, we decided on another place, but now I feel that the reviews for A-Na-Lay are a bit unjustified (although I haven't seen the rooms). The pool seemed really nice, the surroundings are great, the bar is very nice and offers a big selection of drinks for next to nothing, and we loved the seafood in the restaurant. Not all the dishes were great, but the different seafood dishes we tried were absolutely delicious (fried squid, prawn tempura, fried fish, crab, etc.). Their chicken cashew was also fantastic.

The manager and staff were very friendly, and very welcoming even though we weren't staying at the resort. Some of the guest we talked to also seemed very pleased with it, so if we come back to Koh Kood, we will definitely consider staying here. Also, they have a pool table where you pay 10 baht per game, so we quickly found our nightly entertainment.

We ended our stay in Thailand on the island of Koh Kood at ANALAY resort, what a good choice! The setting is beautiful! Everything is there: scooter, canoeing, fishing rod ... The pool is large and clean. The staff is friendly, welcoming. The manager is very attentive and present: which is rare in Thailand. We recommend this resort for both families and couples.

This is my first time in Koh Kood and my friends pick this resort since it is a reasonable price with a descent location. Three of us went their and enjoy ourselves with the package that we bought. The resort is somewhat isolated that it might be difficult to go anywhere else without a car or a motor cycle. This is a Thai family run resort which they try to catch up with other competitive resorts. The decorations and the facilities might be a little bit off than the Western standard but they have a character. With a package, we definitely maximize our time in the resort. We used all of the facilities and enjoy our seafood buffet (except the deep-fried fish). Other seafood dishes are quite tasty. The beach is quite rough in front of the resort and the sand is not as white as other resorts; but the water is really clear with some of the fish and coral near by. After dinner, we tried to hangout outside the restaurant but are disappointed with not enough seats for all of us. But, we ended up hanging out there with one of us sitting on a smaller chair than the height of the bar. The mixed drinks definitely need improvement--the taste is definitely different than what we had in other places. The room needs to be repainted and upgraded. They are worn and torn of paints and furniture everywhere. However, it is good enough if you do not care much about this stuff. For us, we can be entertained with everything and quite content if basic needs are met. The staffs are very friendly and talented. There are shows at night which the same waiters, divers or driving staffs conducted. Quite impressive. Anyway, there is some room for improvement for the resort. Overall, it is worth the money if you enjoy the basic accommodation.

We just moved from this horror hotel. We running like in the film, because we affraid of the manager (Mr. Mad-Eye) - he looks like bad character on some thriller about hounded hotels, he follow us with his stuff, and he is really unfriendly. The room (air-con room with sea view) was terrible. A lot of bugs (ants, spiders), dirty bed, rocks and roots in bathroom, stinky air from air conditional, wet... People who work there, are like a zombie's, the don't speak english very well, and they looking at You, like a zombie. Food and kitchen was really bad. I like one thing in this place, nice beach and view - quiet and peacefull bay, one of most amazing on island, but You can visit this place for a moment with scooter.

Room Tip: try with pool-side room

We had booked this hotel, and left after viewing on arrival. The room was ok, clean and tidy. But the hotel lacked any atmosphere and we didn't feel it was a welcoming, happy place for our holiday. We looked at a few other resorts and the locals were extremely helpful finding somewhere else to stay which included going beyond the call of duty (most places were fully booked) so they called around and gave us a free taxi! All wanting us to find the right place, this island is on your side... we settled at Siam beach resort. Which is perfect.

The service is awful. People's attitude is hard to believe. Rude and arrogant. It's very disappointing in every manner. The food wasn't good, the room is far and the path to get there is very challenging. It's impossible to get the normal service we expect from a hotel or resort no matter how many stars it has. No room cleaning. Toilet was leaking and noone cared even after I called to inform. Terrible place and I will never stay there or recommend anyone to stay there ever.

This is not a common place for Koh Kood and Thailand in general.
It is something unique, based on rocks, on the hills, with a wonderful and unexpected seaview.
Rooms are basic, but spacious and comfortable.

Breakfast is included. Thai style but good and various.

Mr. V, Analay's owner, is kind and not invasive. If you need something, you just have to ask.
We had a fish dinner here, it was good and simple.
They also organize a very nice snorkeling tour on Koh Rang Marine Park at 700 thb!

This resort is not five stars but if you look for something close to the beach, in a private and exclusive place, it's maybe the best offer on the island.

In april Analay is almost fully booked by Thai people and this I think is a plus!
