“Heaven on earth.”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

We stayed in Bann Makok last November and fell in love with the place. It is literally jaw droppingly beautiful...even better than the photos! We fell in love with all the little details, there is love in every corner of this place. And I mean that. Even in the faces of the people who work there!

My boyfriend and I unfortunately suffered from a high fever when we stayed at Bann Makok. One of the cooks who is funnily enough called 'Me', upon hearing we were ill, immediately drove us to the hospital on his scooter and explained everything to the hospital staff. He was so polite and friendly. Mark, one of the waiters, also took us on a boat one night to witness the fireflies nearby. And I can't remember the waitresses name but whether we liked it or not, she always brought hot water for us to drink (as it helps sweat out the fever) even when she was not on duty. And she was right! I can honestly say that the staff at Bann Makok are genuinely lovely people. I must admit as our boat pulled off and we waved our farewells...I almost cried.

Apart from the wonderful atmosphere, Bann Makok is super peaceful. Showering outside under the stars makes you realise how amazing life can be. The food is delicious. Kayaking down to the deserted beach is such a thrill. Koh Kut the island itself is a little paradise. A real one. It's not tainted by tourism or party goers, it has that very simple, whole hearted unique appeal about it. Rent a scooter and go explore. It's definitely worth it.

There has not been a month that has gone by where the wonderful Bann Makok has not brought a smile to my face...

The hotel is so nice, so well decorated, so quiet.
You directly feel at home, secure, peaceful and the staff is very careful about your needs.

Nothing to do but relax, have a walk to the waterfall or take the kayak to the beach. You are into the wild.

Good food and beverage, staff and service very relaxing, setting and decoration in the room are decorated with lots of taste, also very close to the beach to get to it is short by Kayak. the nature on the island is still very much.

Room Tip: Room 7 on the right side of restaurant.

Nice, clean and in-styled place. Friendly, English speaking staffs.
The room I had booked was the last one so i didn't stay at the air-con room, sweaty somehow but taking a shower several times per day could help (Mine comes with an outdoor but private rain shower -- 1st time experience but not bad at all)!
I did swim in front of my balcony and you can do that, too!

My fav' dish here is Stir fried noodle with curry crab (A la carte that enough for one) >>>recommended!!!!!

Room Tip: Go for the air-con room if you are easy to sweat or sensitive to warm water (but it could be turned...

Perfect: food, setting and decoration, service..

Very relaxing. The room are decorated with lots of taste, the common areas allow for lots of rest and reading. I understand now "The Getaway" name.

Also very close to the beach and the kayaking part to get to it is short and fun.

i'm not sure we can say enough good things about our experience. and in fact, we are afraid to say too many good things in fear that it will become so overbooked that we can never return. our experience was magical. pang, who is the front desk manager, was amazing. the rooms look even cuter than online. happy hour was a great way to end the day. we ate one evening at the uber expensive soneva kiri resort and truth be told, the food at baan makok is as good. kayaking to the beach is such a great way to start the day - plus you can explore the entire bay, kayaking - or even walking during low tide - to other little beaches and even the soneva kiri beach. the place is mostly super quiet - which is the BEST part - tho while we stayed, there was a loud british couple who made a scene after returning from a drunken midnight kayak. it is important to remember here that you must be conscientious of your surroundings and the other patrons because sound travels and it really is that quiet and relaxing. from room 8 we could sit on either one of our two porches and see fish swimming in the mangrove estuary.

Room Tip: room 8 was great - two beds, tho we only used one. no ac, but we figured out after a hot night, that...

This is the perfect place to relax, a fantastic environment!
A mix of nature and lovely design, the service from the staff is also exellent.
We travelled with two children, 10 and 7 years old and were a little affraid that there were no pool but there were no problem because there was other activities that was exiting like kayaking, visit waterfall and relax!

You have to visit this lovely place if You go to Kooh Kood, if we have the oportunity we will go there again and we will also tell all our friends to go there!
