A birthday treat for my husband was a one night stay here with dinner bed and breakfast. We were given a very friendly welcome and shown to a really lovely room with fab bathroom, it was warm and welcoming. As it was a birthday we had taken a bottle of wine to share and were disappointed to find there were no glasses just plastic cups, I am sure if we had asked we could have had glasses but were a little surprised to find there were none. We had a fantastic meal and the value for money was excellent, my broccoli and potatoes had obviously been sitting in a hot water bath as were a bit mushy but this is really an extrememly small critisism of an excellent meal which we both enjoyed. My duck starter and sea bass main were both excellent and throughly enjoyable and my husbands prawn cocktail and steak were also excellent both leaving clean plates. The experience was definately enhanced by the waitress, Victoria, who was attentive, efficient and friendly without being intrusive. She was same the next morning at an equally excellent breakfast, she is a real credit to the establishment and worked really hard as the only waitress on duty on the Sunday evening without getting in a flap and maintaining her professionalism, well done Victoria. The only other very minor point was that it woudl have been nice to have linen napkins at the dining table rather than paper ones, again a minor point but it would have added to the fine dining experience. We both slept very well in a very comfortable bed in a quiet room overlooking the gardsn. We do hope to return another time and will recommend it to friends and family.

We have been meeting and eating with family at the King William for many years now and we have never had to complain. The food has always been good, well presented and served by well trained friendly staff. The fact that they are always busy, speaks for itself, but they still have time to look after their customers and smile. Please could you come to Dereham and show our local establishments how to succeed? Well done and Happy New Year to all at the King William in Sedgeford.

.....what a little gem in Norfolk - popped in last night to deliver Chocolate for Christmas and stayed for supper - totally recommend the Sea Bass in the Pesto sauce - absolutely delicious! SO good infact, we are returning next week and staying 2 nights even though we are local! After a busy Christmas, a little getaway to a beautiful old fashioned in to celebrate a birthday, eat glorious food and then fall into bed upstairs is a rare treat indeed! Cant wait....
Good job Nick and team - and thankyou for making us so welcome!

Room Tip: ....book a table for the restaurant to avoid disappointment, the food is delicious!

We started off not too well with what we felt was a lukewarm welcome as we arrived a little later than expected (7.00) and reception was closed and the lady behind the bar did the necessary with what we felt was a little strained. We also felt that due consideration was not given to one of party who has mobility issues especially climbing steep staircases, which the one we had to use was (the other easier staircase had to accessed through the dinning room).
However after that it went much better, the room was as planned, clean and well presented, at the rear and away from whatever noise may have about at the front. The meal we had booked happened on a "mussels" event which we took advantage of and proved to be very good indeed.
We asked if we could breakfast in our room the next day (birthday) and whilst it looked like they did not normally offer this the staff did so and this was really appreciated.
All the breakfasts were excellent, good quality ingredients and well cooked.
We did have one evening meal which thought not as good, adequate but not extra special.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly and we did enjoy our stay.

Thank you for your review of your stay. I'm sorry to hear your arrival wasn't as smooth as it should have been but I am really pleased things turned round quickly and you had an enjoyable stay. I'm especially pleased that you enjoyed the mussels evening and rated the staff as very helpful and friendly. We look forward to welcoming you back sometime again soon.

We took my mother-in law here for a birthday lunch and were absolutely delighted with all aspects of our visit :-)

The pub and restaurant are delightfully decorated ,clean and bright and the service was helpful and friendly.

My husband had the Pork Belly which he said was the best he had had for a long time . It was part of a very reasonably priced Set Lunch Menu.
The starter on this menu was Black Pudding and he was reluctant to try this but thought he would give it a go .......and he was so glad he did as he thoroughly enjoyed it
His meal was finished off with a delightful Sticky Toffee Pudding which again he rated highly.

My MIL had a starter of North Sea Prawns (which was a very generous portion and she enjoyed very much) ,followed by the Battered Cod upon which she remarked you could tell the food was fresh as it was so tasty!
She was too full for dessert.

Myself I had the Garlic bread as a Starter and was very pleasantly surprised when it came up served with a very tasty portion of salad - what a nice touch :-) ......so often it is just the plain bread on a plate.
My main was the Steak Burger filled with blue cheese and served with fries- absolutely delicious!
Dessert was a very different twist on profiteroles - raspberry syllabub ones with a white chocolate sauce - what can I say just .......... scrumptious !!

The coffees we had to finish (Capuccinos and a Latte) were the nicest we have had in many a restaurant and were the perfect end to a wonderful meal.

Our bill for the quality of food was very reasonable indeed and we left with a real feel good feeling and very pleased that we had come :-)

Thank you The King William IV - a country pub that delivers !

We visited with a group of friends in September for walks along the Norfolk coast. Top marks for the rooms which were all freshly decorated and clean. We were disappointed with some aspects of dining - the crab cakes? were on the menu both nights but were not available. Fresh fruit ran out at Saturday breakfast and was not replenished for Sunday. During our stay the menus did not seem to refer to local or seasonal produce and seemed to be unchanged from the one on the website. We too suffered from flies - perhaps it's a reflection of the rural locaiton.
Our two night stay with dinner bed and breakfast was £350/couple.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of hotel (Rooms 6-8) are quiet and face the fields. Although In summer they are l...

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am really pleased you enjoyed your stay and gave us top marks for the rooms. I have noted your comments on the crab cakes and addressed this with the kitchen. The absence of fruit on the breakfast table was an ordering issue which now will not be repeated. We tend to publish pur current menus on the website so guests know what to expect. We tend to have many visitors travelling for their favourite dish. The daily specials and additional set menus are not published on the website due to the continous change. Most of our products are locally sourced and we will certainly look into mentioning this on the menu. We look forward to welcoming you and your friends to the King William again soon.

had a very nice meal and evening at the king William, unfortunatly haven't been for a while, still as good, with a nice seating area in the bar which makes a great difference. nice and warm, good friendly service as always clean ,tidy and well presented. there is an area that needs urgent attention, during the mussel season many times over we have been to the king William mostly weekends you have sold out of mussels,as you did last night ,this should not happen we visit all the places around the coast,ie lifeboat white horse, hoste etc etc and we have never come across this over last 20 years. ??

Thank you very much indeed for your feedback. I am pleased that you have enjoyed your meal once again with us. I fully understand your disappointment with the limited availability of Mussels at the moment. Brancaster Mussels is one of our very popular dishes and always sells out very quickly. This year is a particular challenge because the uncommonly warm weather has caused a late harvest of Mussels. The main fishmonger in the area has none whatsoever so we need to hunt around daily for them. When we succeed they sell out even quicker then before because of theirscarcity. You were joking during your visit about having to reserve a pot of mussels before you arrive and maybe this isnt such a bad idea. If you are a regular and the staff know you I am sure this can be organised for you. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.
Kind regards,
Lili Skerritt
