“Excellent local pub.”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

During our honeymoon stay in sedgeford recently we came across this very cosy village pub and found ourselves feeling very at home amongst the locals, the food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. The quality of the food was very good and reasonably priced, would highly recommend to anyone staying in the area and we will definitely be returning to this establishment. P.S. A big thank you to Colin the village taxi driver!

We visited for a three day break. We found all of the staff to be really friendly, the food was excellent & it was such a refreshing change to find a dog friendly hotel that really liked dogs! Lovely bar area, where canine friends are also very welcome to be with their owners in the evening during dinner. We shall definitely return if in the area - thank you

This is a fine village pub in an attractive West Norfolk setting.
We sat outside - early April! The terrace overlooked the covered outside seating and eating area. A simple lunch of excellent paninis with salad and chips, two glasses of white wine and two pints of good real ale cost a reasonable £29.00. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The inside bar area has comfortable seating, and would be a good place on a cool day for a pint and a chat. It would have been good to have seen one of the owners about during food and drink service.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. I'm pleased to read that you enjoyed a lovely outdoor lunch in this wonderful early Spring weather we are having. I am sorry Nick wasn't present during your lunch to extend our welcome to you. He very much enjoys meeting as many of our visitors as possible but sometimes needs to attend business elsewhere. No doubt he looks forward to welcoming and meeting you on your next visit and lets hope the weather will continue to be as beautiful.
Kind regards,

We stayed at the king William for valentines. Very pleasant stay, food was beautiful. The owner even came round to each table for a chat and to see if everything was ok. We stayed in the smallest of the rooms but found it was extremely cosy, very clean. Breakfast was lovely. Would definitely recommend.

We visited for a friend's birthday booking roughly a week in advance. We were eating only, we did not stay at the King William (please ignore room rating).

When we arrived we were frostily received by a woman behind the bar who left mid way through taking our drinks order to return without so much of a smile. The reason why she took our drinks order at the bar was due to the fact that our table wasn't ready (despite booking early). Not a great start. We were then handed menus at the bar still and a few minutes later a waitress came to take our food order. We were then currently perched on bar stools still waiting for the table - not particularly ready to order our food.

We were shown to our table, which was fine in a well lit and warm room in the conservatory/annex room - pleasant. Our orders were taken and we decided to share two starters between the four of us. The owner, (we assume) whilst doing his rounds of the tables extended his pleasantries and small talk. We mentioned that we had actually ordered and we were awaiting starters (roughly about 20 minutes at this point). He checked with the kitchen and apparently the chefs said we hadn't ordered that long ago...we gave that the benefit of the doubt. The starters came shortly after and they were ok. Tempura vegetables and breaded deep fried brie; tasty if not slightly greasy on both counts. The mains came in a reasonable amount of time and we were all impressed with the portion sizes. The duck breast and vegetarian quorn fillet dishes were good. Great use of the seasonal berries in the duck sauce also. The venison was unfortunately extremely full, tasteless and was comparative to a cheap cut of fatty beef rump. The spinach it was bedded on was sloppy and over steamed. This dish was sent back. The waitress was apologetic and that was that. It was taken off the bill also.

There was an issue of the bill as there were drinks totalling about £20.00 that appeared that we did not have nor order.

This restaurant was visited on recommendation but did not meet expectation.

Overall quite unimpressive made worse by the fact that it was much looked forward to due to there being a birthday in our party.

Thank you for your feedback on your birthday visit. I am genuinely sorry to hear your visit didn't live up to expectations, this should certainly not happen. It is important that we keep standards up at all times and your comments have been thoroughly addressed with the waiting and kitchen staff involved. All personell has been refreshed on all the procedures we have in place to ensure that everyone has a pleasant visit from start to finish at all times. I hope we may welcome you again some time in the future and that you find your comments have been noted.

Although I live in the next village,I treat this pub as my local.
Always a warm welcome, friendly and helpful staff and a varied menu which the chef is always happy to amend if there is something I am not too keen on.
My wife and I eat there regularly and we always take friends and family when they visit.
An excellent all-round establishment we'll run and managed.

Room Tip: Did not stay here as live locally.

We have stayed here many times and find it hard to believe the comments made by Lucettelimited. We have always been made to feel very welcome by ALL the staff (especially Caroline) and the food has always been superb. The rooms are well appointed and spotlessly clean and all in all our visit has always been a pleasurable experience which is why we come again .......... and again ............ and again

Room Tip: All the rooms that we have ever occupied have been good rooms!
