Just home from a fantastic stay at mias cottage. The cottage was very cosy and warm even when the storms blew in. It is in a nice, not to remote area of Donegal, close to many beautifull beaches. The owner John had the fire roaring for us on arrival and every thing you could possibly need is in the cottage .We just couldn't believe how nice this place is. We cant wait to visit this area of Donegal again and without hesitation would stay in mias cottage.

“lovely, cosy cottage”

We stayed for a long weekend. The cottage is really well presented. It is a modernised but traditional Irish cottage in a quiet off road location. We were greeted by the owner John and made welcome with a lovely fire lit for us. The rooms are all a good size and well furnished. There are nice views over the countryside to the sea and mountains and plenty of safe space for young children to play. A lot of thought and taste went into making this a really delightful place to holiday.

“Fantastic stay at Mia's cottage”

We had an absolutely brilliant weekend at Mia's cottage. It is in a beautiful location and is so peaceful and quiet. The owner met us and showed us around, recommending places to visit in the area. The cottage itself is warm and cosy with everything you could need. There is a lovely patio where we were able to sit for breakfast even in late September.

There was so much to see and do around Inishowen, We visited the nearby waterfall & lovely tearoom, Malin Head, Kinnego Bay, a weekend was not long enough!

The price was excellent and we all want to stay there again!

“Another wonderful stay at Mia's Cottage!”

This was our second time at the cottage and had another fantastic holiday.
This time we stayed over the Halloween break. The cottage was perfect. The owners had a fire roaring for our arrival and as usual it had everything we needed. We were able to go into Derry City for the Halloween festival - brilliant! Even the weather couldn't dampen it. Just make sure you dress up to get involved in the festivities. The cottage is only a fifteen minute drive to Doagh Famine village so we booked in for the 'spooky village', and it was great craic!

There is a lovely, if somewhat windy, beach about 2 miles from the cottage ( turn right at the end of the lane and just continue to the end of the road) and Tullagh Beach is a lovely horseshoe shaped beach about 5 minute drive away (back towards Clonmany).

We also ventured into Ballyliffin for dinner at Ballyliffin lodge and we were delighted with the food and service and good value to. They have a great play area for kids. Also for children we would recommend Wains World in Buncrana, a great indoor play centre with lovely friendly staff.

To conclude, this is a great cottage with a lovely rural Irish setting but is close enough to plenty of different amenities in Clonmany (local shop is good for all the basics and fresh bread etc. and a Chinese takeaway), Ballyliffin, Buncrana and for a day out, Derry. For walkers there are the two fantastic beaches nearby (which I'd love to visit in the Summer).

“Mia's Cottage, a country diamond.”

Mia's Cottage is a single level easy accessable cottage about 10 mins drive from the nearest town, don't let that put you off though. It's location is one of the few locations in Donegal with full mobile and data reception for 3, o2 and Vodafone. Its a quaint cottage with a long driveway that leads to the large courtyard at the back of the house overlooking a stone barbecue and seating area. The cottage sleeps 3 in one of its 2 bedrooms, 2 in the ensuite and a fold out couch bed in the main living area which has a large solid fuel open stove that heats water and radiators in addition to an external oil burner. With large luggage spaces, shower and nice bathrooms there is really no confinement discomfort as you would feel in a hotel and has full facilities, kitchen and ironing utilities in house. 5 mins from the beach and 15 mins from the sights and scenes of Donegal makes it the most accessible spot to explore the entire Inisowen peninsula. 5 stars from me and will return.

Just returned from a wonderful week away in Mia's Cottage with my husband and 2 kids!! We couldn't have been more delighted with the cottage and location when we first arrived. Doloris was most welcoming and gave us a great insight into all the local attractions worth visiting with the kids. The cottage itself was absolutely beautiful and it's evident a lot of love and effort has went in to restoring this cottage to such a standard! Features like the textured whitewashed walls inside and out and turf burning stove give it a really cosy old irish feel. It also includes all the mod cons needed like the fully equip kitchen including washing machine& dryer which was so useful. We enjoyed trips to the beautiful local bays and glenevin waterfall etc, all very close at hand. A trip to Mia's cottage in the winter season would be a cosy experience too! Would definitely recommend to family & friends! Thanks John & Doloros for a super holiday:-)

“Peaceful and idyllic cottage.”

From start to finish staying in Mia's cottage was a pleasurable experience. Dolores made the booking experience easy and friendly. On arrival John was very welcoming and showed us around the cottage and told us a bit about the local area. The cottage itself is lovely, very comfortable, well furnished and spotless. The kids had hours of fun on the swings and befriending the sheep in an adjoining field. Plenty of space for 4 of us to play with a Frisbee. TV and PlayStation were available. The surrounding scenery was breathtaking and some beautiful beaches a short drive away. We would recommend the Famine Village as a good way to spend a few hours. Plenty to do to amuse 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We walked to both Cis's and The Rusty Nail for a drink. Loved our stay at Mia's cottage and we would definitely stay again :)
