“Comfortably sleeps 12- brilliant house.”

Fantastic little pub (The Barley Mow) just down the road. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely host. Conveniently broken into 3 sleeping areas. Within walking distance on Matlock Bath. Highly recommend.

“Amazing time at amazing accommodation”
Reviewed 9 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We had such a lovely family Christmas at study farm barn. Jayne was extremely welcoming on our arrival, showing us round and telling us how everything worked.
The barn was lovely and spacious with 2 bedrooms on each floor, but also warm and cosy with a huge dining table and good size living area for us all to socialise.
Our Christmas was lovely, we even had a visit from the cows who came to the fence on the back garden just as we had sat down to eat Christmas dinner, which the kids thought was fab!
The village itself is also lovely and the pub owners were very welcoming.
We would definitely book again as we had such a lovely time!

“Perfect for family get together.”
Reviewed 29 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Jayne was most welcoming, the barn is clean, spacious and well equipped all to a high standard.

The layout gives you private bedrooms/bathrooms with a large communal space, this worked well as we had small babies & children, each family group had their own "wing" therefor not disturbing others when babies woke for night time feeds.

We travelled from the North East, Hampshire and West Midlands, Bonsall has a good road network on it's doorstep, but is nestled away in beautiful countryside.

We will book again for our next family get together.

Management Response
26 Oct 2016
Thanks for your review Bev. I'm so glad you all enjoyed your stay at Study Farm Barn and the great amenities in the village. Thank you for mentioning the few little niggles you had as it is important to us to ensure all our guests enjoy their stay. The TV and more work surface space in the kitchen are already on our to do list and in fact the new larger TV has now been delivered and additional work space will be installed in the kitchen by the end of November. We were unaware of the problem with the radiator and the shower so thank you for bringing this to our attention. Hopefully see you all again next year.
Thanks. Jayne

“Seven in heaven!”
Reviewed 13 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

7 blokes meeting up for a reunion, 40 years after beginning work together in September 1976. We had the barn recommended by the wife of one of our group. It was perfect for us. Jayne, the owner, was so helpful, friendly and accommodating.. Booking communications and info were great. Ample parking... We had 7 cars. There are 6 bedrooms, all very nicely appointed, one with ensuite facilities. There are two further bathrooms. The lounge and kitchen diner are very comfy and well equipped. At the rear there is a lovely decked patio with an excellent gas barbecue. The village of Bonsall itself is lovely, with 2 great pubs and a cafe where we had breakfast every day. See my other reviews for details of the King's Head, the Barley Mow and the Fountain Cafe. This is a brilliant place but we want it all to ourselves!

“Wonderful barn conversion in great location”
Reviewed 11 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We were 3 families staying for a long weekend. The property itself is great and affords a good social environment for big gatherings, yet plenty of privacy in that there are segregated bedrooms & bathrooms. 3 families can easily stay here and feel as though they have their own private area, all joined by a common living room, kitchen and dining area on the 1st floor.

The property is located close to walking paths, of which there are a good variety. It is better to stay out in Bonsall and hike into Matlock Bath, rather than spending your stay in a mini Blackpool/Skegness environment surrounded by 60 yr old biker has beens and 2 p slot machines. There's more than enough to do in the area for a week vacation. As with any British vacation, be prepared to experience 4 seasons in one day and you'll be okay. Would loved to have tested the BBQ out at the back of the building in a sheltered paved area, but liquid sunshine put paid to our plans. There's seating for about 15 people with a nice view onto fields with rabbits hopping about. We were able to eat out one evening until the heavens opened and we legged it inside.

Only slight minus for the property was the size of the dishwasher. This would have been okay for a family of 4, but not for the number of guests that can sleep in the property. Be prepared to wash up by hand if you want clean utensils, plates, cutlery for your next meal. Otherwise the kitchen and washroom are well equipped. The property was clean and well looked after and the owner friendly and accommodating
