Lovely holiday home, comfortable and clean, friendly owners. Bonsall is a lovely village and great base for exploring Derbyshire and the Peak District.

“A quality base for exploring, friendly and welcoming.”
Reviewed 1 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Stayed here with my partner and daughter. It was our first visit and will def be making a return. The accommodation was clean, peaceful and well located for our explorations. The owner was helpful and always on hand but not intrusive. Both of the village pubs are welcoming, I would recommend you try the steak and ale pie in the Kings Head and enjoy the real ale in the Barlow Mow, (food also good there too). The small café in the village is an excellent place to fill up before you explore. The only downside is that Bonsall does not have a shop/general store nearest store is a 30 minute walk. Plenty of places to visit within a few miles, Cromford Mill, Chatsworth, Heights of Abraham to name just three. Some great walks, but be prepared as it is very 'hilly'.

“Very cozy and beautifully adapted barn ideal for our small family self catering holiday”

We absolutely loved this delightful barn conversion. The first floor open plan kitchen, diner and lounge was spacious and comfortable, as were the bedrooms downstairs.

The owners were very helpful, and flexible with our dates. We stayed 6 days from Tuesday to Monday,

Walkers are spoilt for choice with local routes from the doorstep , the dales, ridges and moors all within easy driving distance.

We visited the Heights of Abraham in Matlock which was a bit expensive and not to be recommened for anyone who dislikes heights or caves. Allow at least two hours to get value for your money, and pay for sufficient time at the car park!

On the Saturday night we went to see the parade of illuminated boats at Matlock and the firework display, using the Park and Ride from Cromford, good service. Very crowded but worth seeing as a one off. We exited before the fireworks and watched from the road to avoid the crush.

Visited both pubs in Bonsall village. The Kings Head very interesting historically, the landlord was friendly and informative. If you want to play dominoes or cards at the Barley Mow don´t count on finding a full box or pack!

No hesitation in recommending this location and accomodation.

“Lovely, clean accommodation in an excellent location”
Reviewed 8 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

Straight forward and easy booking. Friendly welcome from owners. Jayne was lovely and made us feel at home. She was also very helpful when we had questions about amenities nearby. My children loved that fact that the property was "upside down" (bedrooms downstairs, living room and kitchen upstairs). Very good value for money for the school summer holidays. Great location and plenty to do in the area for our family. We had a great time!
