The staff are wonderful, friendly and full of smiles and banter :). You feel welcome as soon as you walk in. The service was spot on and the food was top notch. A lovely decor and very clean. A must visit and worth a drive out of your way just to come and have a relax and a cuppa. Ohhh I forgot to mention the home made cake :) yum yum yum.

After a lovely walk around bonsall to Matlock we decided to stop for a drink :)! I had a cup of tea which was lovely we also ordered 2 mango passion fruit smoothies which went down very well our friend also had a toasted tea cake which was very nice and fresh our only complaint is that a small glass of sadnilion and burdock was £1.95 now that was a rip off!!!!!! All of our other items where good price and yummy! Would recommend

There is a plethora of mediocre cafes around Wirksworth/Cromford/Matlock...with traditional service i.e awful. The Fountain, on the other hand, is just lovely, real food served with care and a smile. For all those people making a list of places to visit in the Peak district/Derbyshire Dales...throw them away. Throw the guide book away, get out of traffic jams go up to Bonsall, get the o/s map out and pick out any of the multitude of foot paths and open your eyes. Start at the Fountain and take a quick look at the pamphlets on local history go and see the stunning views, nature (Bonsall Moor in May/June wild orchids eyc), heritage...farming (ridge and furrow), lead mining, quarries etc etc. Finish at The Fountain and fill up on anything on the menu...all delicious

This was a very welcome end to a long walk. One of the village's old pubs, it has been transformed into a lovely modern tea shop that caters for all tastes and ages. Friendly staff, excellent choice of food, both sweet and savoury, at very reasonable prices.
