We stayed here for one night in March with two young children. The owners were very hospitable to us all and provided us with a delicious breakfast including wonderful homemade bread, even though the kitchen was having a make-over at the time! The rooms were lovely and warm, very clean and comfortable with fresh milk to go with the tea and biscuits. We would definitely recommend it to others.

We received a very warm & friendly welcome here, after booking at the last minute just for one night. We stayed in a comfortable twin room, and were delighted when a fire was lit for us in the sitting room to return to after a local pub meal, plus fresh milk for tea, and then a delicious smoked salmon/ scrambled egg breakfast with home made bread. The hosts were very friendly, but also gave us space to sit and chat without feeling we were in the way. We definitely recommend this B&B, and its in a pretty village too, with a good pub down the road.

Dave and Caroline have been friends for many years. It was great news that they had started a B &B in such a lovely part of the country and we jumped at the chance to make a first visit to them. You will not be disappointed here, the welcome is warm, the breakfast all one would hope for and the house is very comfortable. Location is on the edge of the Peak District and great for history, walks both long and short and also access to Matlock. Bonsall is a quiet village with some great pubs and it feels like it is far enough off the beaten track so will never get too busy. We know this will be a successful venture and wish Dave and Caroline all best luck.

Our weekend here was lovely. Personally I feel we couldn't have picked a better spot!
The B & B was characterful and clean, with a lovely atmosphere. We found the balance of friendly, helpful hosts and plenty of space and privacy just right. We felt well looked after and that nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were delicious. The other guests were friendly and there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere at breakfast time, whilst breakfast appeared like clockwork.
We loved the feel of Bonsall, which is also full of character. The Barley Mow was just the job! It was a unique pub. Great live music, good drink and excellent, plentiful pub grub. The area is obviously great for walking. We rounded up our weekend in the gardens at beautiful Chatsworth (which was only 12 miles away).

We've known Dave & Caroline for many years and jumped at the chance to be guinea pigs for their new B&B. We knew that we would be treated to a warm welcome, clean rooms, tasty breakfast, excellent facilities and good advice for activities in the area. We were not disappointed!

Bonsall is pleasingly off the beaten track, which means it's in a quiet, unspoilt and attractive location but still within easy reach of the Peak District's normal tourist honey pots. The village has an active local community and 2 good pubs.

Townshead Farmhouse is a jewel of a B&B and well worth a visit and we wish Dave & Caroline all the best with their exciting new venture.

Had a great weekend with David and Caroline. Our host's were friendly and helpful and managed to enhance our stay by providing excellent "dog friendly" accommodation. The room was immaculate, the breakfasts all locally sourced ingredients and cooked to perfection. Great location for walkers and a good base to tour the dales by car. The Barley Mow is worth a mention as a superb music oriented pub with good food and great ales and very good atmosphere.
We enjoyed out stay immensely and will certainly return. We wish David and Caroline every success as they truly deserve it!

Room Tip: Our downstairs room excellent for the elderly or dog owners.

We have just returned from this B & B where we stayed for four nights with our elderly parents (90 & 81) Our two mothers stayed in a twin bedded downstairs room with en suite which was perfect for them. We had an en suite double upstairs which was also perfect for us! Our hosts David and Caroline couldn't be more helpful and we found lots of interesting places to visit suitable for our elderly family who were unable to walk very far. The breakfast straight from the aga was fantastic and even included home baked bread. There was a good selection of pubs and restarantes for evening meals, hot drink facilities in rooms and a kitchen especially for guests to use. Townhead farmhouse really did cater for our every need and we can't wait to go back to go on some of the local walks.
