I came to the hotel for an early flight out of Dortmund. I was very hesitant and expected a dump. I needed a nearby hotel, so I booked it at a cheap rate of EU59/ double room). A lot of past reviews mentioned the old smoke smell in the hotel (which I hate) as well as the noise from the main road. So, guarded with my Febreze spray and ear plugs, I entered the hotel. Wow...What a surprise! The hotel was clean and fresh (newly carpeted and refurbished). The landlady was very friendly and helpful. It states on the booking form that reception is unattended after 20h00. Another guest arrived half an hour later, rang the bell and was let in within 5min. Not bad at all. I booked in before 8pm, got my key and went to the Xmas market 30m around the corner. What a pleasure! I came and went as I pleased. It is so central and close to take aways and shops (on the main road). There was always a light on in the reception and a possibility to make a cup of tea or coffee too. The reception area was clean and comfi.
I stayed in room 3 facing the main road (room 2 faces the garden but costs more). It was extremely clean and had everything I needed. A mini bar, heater, TV, fresh towels, enough pillows and a stunning bathroom with shower. There was some noise from people walking past and shouting, but that was normal for town life. If you book a hotel in the centre of town you should expect that. By 22h30 it calmed down (on a Sat night) and I slept soundly. The shuttle to the airport cost EU5 and picked me up on time, as booked. The driver was very friendly and it took us less than 5min to the airport. I will definitely make this my regular stop on my visits to Dortmund.
