“We Have Found Our Getaway!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2009

Monina's has three locations in Dapitan City: one in the city on Justice Saguin Street; another new one around the corner from the former on Andres Bonifaco Ave and a third called the "Extension" on Sunset Boulevard, facing the beach. The last is where we chose to stay.

This property is fully air conditioned, includes cable TV, hot & cold running water and reliable, free WI-FI connection throughout. It is of modern construction, spotlessly clean and well maintained.

The location, right on the beach can't be beat. Several excellent restaurants are within walking distance in both directions along Sunset Boulevard. Room prices ranged from 600-800 Philippine pesos/room/night. We chose the double double, which sleeps four. It represents an excellent value for money.

The manager, Mirabel E. Sanico and her husband Oyong are the definition of accommodating. Her staff will prepare virtually any meal to a modest tariff.

They may be contacted for reservations at [--] or cell [--]. E-mail should be addressed to [--] . We will happily return!

Historical sites and attractions, a must see when visiting Dapitan City, is also a walking distance from our guesthouse. Notably, Dr. Jose P. Rizal, a national hero of the Philippines, lived in exile in faraway Dapitan City, then only a sleepy town in Mindanao. Here, he spent fruitfully his last four years in exile, from 1892 to 1896, to practice medicine, pursue scientific studies, keep up with his artistic and literary endeavors, and widen his knowledge of languages. ... more   less
