As a dancer and artist this is one Amazing place to go watch theatre and perform. In the space of 4 months I have performed here 3 times, been to watch several performances, invovled in a creative conversation and had a light bite.
All the staff are very friendly and great to work with if your performing, just visiting or having a bite to eat. I had the 3 bean chilli nachos and it was lush not to spicy which was perfect.

I think I have found a new second home!

Friendly staff, good atmosphere, excellent food !
What more could you ask for in an entertainments venue? Good selection of drinks, informative staff and the stage set is superb. This was the evening of "Wild Willy Barret's "French Connection" and the food too was "French Themed"
Overall a great evenings entertainment in a great atmosphere!

To explain. Visited for a show and on arrival was greeted by a foul smell in the reception area reminiscent of toilets. It was all-pervading and enquiries later established it was actually something that had been served in the cafe [!]. The auditorium was later very hot [despite it being spring] and some ventilation is surely needed to deal with these problems.

That said the show was excellent [helped by three girls with two bottles of wine in the balcony] and a man who laughed as though impersonating a chicken. The staff were friendly and hard-working.

Driving towards the North Devon coast we stopped off at Great Torrington in search of a place for a light lunch. The town centre was pretty dismal and very disappointing on a Friday. Even the Pannier Market was struggling for trade. Apart from the pubs, which we didn't fancy, there seemed to be a dearth of cafes for a light bite. Thank goodness for the café at The Plough Arts Centre. Pleasant surroundings, tables and chairs and sofas to sink in to. The leek and potato soup was splendid - no extra seasoning needed ( a first for me!). I had the soup and sandwich combo which was great value and filled the bill. The chicken sandwiches were very generously filled and made with lovely fresh bread! A top notch meal. Sets an example to others in Great Torrington. Well done!

Had the good fortune to visit the Plough Arts Centre in Great Torrington, Devon recently while on holiday during half-term. What a fabulous place, almost bordering on the idiosyncratic in that such a small town can boast such a great Arts venue covering many aspects of the arts, as you can guess I'm one of those who subscribe to the theory "Art is the signature of humankind". So from cinema and plays through to musicals and all stops in between. They had a great exhibition while we were there.

All that with a real bonus thrown in, in that we also enjoyed great and varied meals there, all freshly prepared on the premises - couldn't fault it. Their food provision is excellent backed up by such a caring staff and great service - [should have left them a bigger tip really ] Great holiday made all the more memorable by discovering the Plough Arts Centre. with a special mention to restaurant manger Rhea and Chef Ian from whom we had not only great food and service but some great banter.Thank you Plough, in the words of Arnie " we'll be back!" .
