“Had a hoot at great Birds of Prey Centre. Owl be back soon!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2012

We've been staying in Kielder this week and the Birds of Prey Centre has been the highlight of our trip.

The magic ingredients are marvellous staff (friendly, passionate and knowledgable about the birds they care for), a great range of birds from across the globe and a willingness to go the extra mile.

For example, it was pouring down when we visited and the zoo keeper allowed us to feed some of his birds. He also amazed us by showing us as an owl that we could stroke. I've never seen a centre like this and it's fascinating to understand these fantastic birds better.

We'll be back in the Summer when we hope to see the Birds of Prey flying display.

“Fantastic place to visit. Highly recommended”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 September 2011

We had visited the centre a couple of years ago and have an eight year old who loves birds of prey. We have watched many demonstrations over the past couple of years but none of them compare to the demonstrations you will see here. On this occasion we have visited as we had book an experience day for our eight year old and he had a fantstic time. Its a one to one session lasting for three hours and he was able to do all kinds of things with the staff and the birds eg he went on a hawk walk which gave him the oppportunity to experience flying a hawk within the woods, he handled the birds fed them weighed them as well as learning tons of facts about bird care. He also took part in the first of the flying demonstrations. The staff took loads of photos for him as a momento of his day and it was worth every penny - he is saving up to go back next spring! We went into the centre in the afternoon and watched both demonstrations - they have different birds flying at each one so you never see the same one twice. The staff are fantastic very friendly and knowledgable and will spend plenty time with you answering any questions. They are brilliant with kids and everyone gets to have a hands on experience during the demonstrations holding the birds especially the kids and there are plenty of photo opportunities! The birds are kept in immaculate conditions and are truly magnificent. We will be visiting time and again whenever we are in the area. Many Thanks to Ray and all the staff!! Also its worth noting that there are other things to do in the local area - there is the visitor centre, the mini golf course, a maze, play parks for the littleones, plenty of space for walks and bike rides as well as ferry trips. The boat inn pub / restaurant does very nice food too!!

“Brilliant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 September 2011

Could have visited every day. Guys running it are very knowledgable and so passionate. Flying displays are the best I have seen and really involve the audience. Can't recommend it highly enough. If you get the chance go. It is worth twice the entrance fee

“The best I have seen.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2011

I've travelled around the country visiting bird of prey centers and this is the best bar none. The staff are knowledgeable, have an obvious passion for what they do and great with kids. What really impressed was their attitude when a disabled group came in. They really tried to get everybody involved. The birds are just fantastic, owls you can stroke and many hawks, kites and larger owls that will land on your hand. The white tailed eagle is fantastic. Don't take my word for it go and see for yourself, its worth every penny.
