We've been staying in Kielder this week and the Birds of Prey Centre has been the highlight of our trip.
The magic ingredients are marvellous staff (friendly, passionate and knowledgable about the birds they care for), a great range of birds from across the globe and a willingness to go the extra mile.
For example, it was pouring down when we visited and the zoo keeper allowed us to feed some of his birds. He also amazed us by showing us as an owl that we could stroke. I've never seen a centre like this and it's fascinating to understand these fantastic birds better.
We'll be back in the Summer when we hope to see the Birds of Prey flying display.
