“Excellent day”
Reviewed 8 November 2013

I came to the bird of prey centre last weekend with my family and I can honestly say that it was one of the best experiences of my life! After watching the owner Ray interacting and caring for the birds it was evident that he is so devoted to all of the birds. It is more than just a job for him, and you can tell it is his life. Ray informed us that the only day it is shut is Christmas Day but there is not a day goes by when he is not there. All of the staff were very knowledgable and took the time to talk to us, explaining all about the birds and why they are in captivity and so let us stroke some of the little owls and baby rabbits! We were then able to watch a flying demonstration where Ray allowed us to hold the bigger birds on the glove! We were allowed to take lots of photos and it was an experience we will never forget! Thank you so much!

“If you only choose one place to visit in Northumberland this MUST be it.”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

Absolutely amazing visit, we have visited numerous bird of prey centres all over the UK but Kielder stands head and shoulders above them all. From the moment you walk through the gate you are made to feel part of it all and welcomed warmly. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff or volunteers and they had great patience with my 5 year old who asked question after question, answering him in terms he easily understood without talking down to him and ensuring both children certainly had a day to remember, not forgetting mum and dad. The centre is of a very high standard with a much larger collection of birds than we expected, all fantastically cared for, this is obviously a great passion for Ray and staff and not primarily a business which unfortunately many centres like this are. We will be back and my husband is planning his hawk walk in the New Year. Unfortunately it was raining on our visit and so the demonstration was understandably cut short, we were invited to return the next day and would be given free entry, not necessary at all from our point of view but a very kind and generous gesture.

“Top day out”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

After a fantastic drive through the Northumberland National Park and seeing the breath-taking views of the reservoir, we arrived at Kielder Bird of Prey Centre.
The stunning birds were well presented with the enclosures being just close enough to see every detail but far enough away as not to worry the birds.

The twice daily displays were the highlight of the visit, with an array of different birds being flown by Ray. He was informative, friendly and very funny at the same time as being "almost" in full control of the birds.

Altogether a top day out for kids and adults alike.
