Just visited Kielder campsite and had evening meal at the Anglers Arms, from the look of the building from the ouside we didn't expect much but the service was great, the food was superb with huge portions, even the kids loved it! Will definitely visit again. The pizzas from the evening takeaway were massive too. Alround perfect

Having read some of the latest comments on here we were a quite unsure about wether coming here for dinner on 12 Aug. would be a good idea - especially after our extremely bad experience at The Boat Inn down the road, but it turned out to be an excellent idea!
We chose to eat in the restaurant, the bar and the restaurant have the same menu and prices, but the restaurant has a much more pleasant atmosphere and was quite busy with families with well behaved children and couples.
The female staff member was very friendly, happy to answer all our questions about ingredients etc and service was very efficient without being rushed.
The food we had was home made, good quality traditional pub food. I had an excellent chicken korma which could match any Indian restaurant I have been to, served with rice, naan, mango chutney and lime pickle. My husband had the steak and ale pie and the children spaghetti bolognese with salad and cheese and tomato pizza, followed by puddings for the children.
The adult portions were generous and the children's perfect for the age of our two (5 & 9), but possibly a bit small for older children. Children had pudding which again were very good size.
The menu had a good choice of simple dishes and there were more interesting and vegetarian choices on the specials board.
There was good beer and decent wine by the glass.
Toilets were clean and bright.
This pub does what it says on the tin, is excellent value for money and was a really pleasant surprise. Would definitely go back!

We were camping in Kielder campsite so this was walking distance, and we could take our dog in the bar. Menu was underwhelming and think the "cook from fresh" claim doesn't really feel valid, but we were hungry and what was received was ok, the barman saved the day as he was pleasant, but staff pointing at cutlery in the corner is not service, food is the low end of quality pub grub. But be prepared to be overwhelmed by locals who take over the bar area so you can't get to the counter, a pool table with a list of players which meant my teenagers didn't stand a chance, and darts players who won't let you get to cutlery !! So if you can put up with ignorant female staff and not wishing to drive then this will have to do, a pub content at being poor, and unwilling to try harder

We visited on two occasions during our stay in Kielder - both visits very enjoyable. Our 16 year old had been fishing and had caught a rainbow trout - he was desperate to try it and the chef very kindly prepared and cooked it for him. Now that's what you call great service... And the fish was delicious too. The rest of our meals were equally tasty and we enjoyed our dining at a leisurely pace with no pressure from the staff. The two girls who were waiting tables were very welcoming and attentive throughout service. Great food, very reasonably priced and nice surroundings - you can't go wrong paying a visit.

They accommodated us (4) even though they should have stopped serving food.
The food was ok, nothing special. The price was very good though.
I think the food may have been better if we had have been during the day, instead of at 8pm.
The staff were really lovely especially Kelly!
