Me and my family have been to visit Kolhapur and other nearby areas, on Way back We stayed at Hotel Sagar Delux. Where We come to know how a Hotel Should not be.

The hot water was not available as geysers were removed from bathroom. The Towels given were Wet. While tried to open a tap it came in hand.

AC not working.

The Most ridiculous thing is,, When we have been to lobby to esquire about AC the Staff was Drunk and not able to Stand or Talk. Another Staff was vomiting as he was also over drunk.

My wife, 2 friends & I had gone to Satara on 26th September specifically to visit the Kaas Plateau for Wild flower & bird watching.

At kaas itself, there are no staying options yet, so the best way to visit the plateau is to stay in Satara and do a day trip. It's approximately 30 kms oneway and takes a little over an hour to visit there. The roads are not great.

We checked 2 other hotels before opting to stay here. Satara has limited good options for staying.

The bad first: Dirty rooms. They were newly done ... but there was still some work left incomplete ... unplastered patches on the wall, loose wires hanging etc. They serve very limited snacks here ... but after asking for a simple fresh-lime with soda & seeing the extremely poor hygiene standards (glass not washed, ants and other black stuff in the sugar etc.), we did not risk asking for anything else. Instead, we used to have our meals at hotel Rajtara which is a just a 5 minute walk from here. The elevator stinks (you have to hold your breath or use the staircase). The curtains are too thin and short. The room would become really bright in the mornings. Air-conditioning was VERY noisy. The staff are not too professional either and have very little idea of how to run a hotel. Cockroaches near the basin ... and they didn't clean the rooms daily nor give us fresh linen. There was water-logging in the basin. They also have a weird rule: in spite of having a generator with enough capacity, they don't use it during the daytime (when it is really hot). There was a fixed power-cut daily for 2 hours during the day. Though they did inform us about this in advance. Hot water is not 24 hours.

The good: Newly done up rooms which are bright. Location was convenient.

One thing about the Kaas plateau: It is fantastic for wildflower watching. It comes alive post-monsoon from mid-August till the first week of October. And if you have the time, you can also visit the Thoseghar waterfalls which are breathtakingly scenic. These are around 30kms from satara though on a different route than the Kaas plateau. It is a small trek to the falls' viewing point from the car park, where there is a small restaurant. We ate here but the food was not great.
