This is the first Elgin group of hotels i have visited. The hotel is located beautifully and is a heritage property. You can view the Kanchenjunga from the room and trust me it looks beautiful. The hotel staff is good and helpful. The food needs improvement. The rooms are good and the stay is comfortable.

Staying in a hotel like Elgin Mount Pandim is itself an experience which you can cherish forever.
The location of the hotel is simply amazing and put most of the so called view points for snow clad Himalayan mountain range to shame. You can have a very very clear & close view of mighty Himalayan range including Mt. Kanchenjunga from this hotel while sipping morning/afternoon cup of tea in the lobby or garden which is breathtaking.
The service of the hotel is very efficient & friendly and the buffet breakfast/dinner is elaborate and i personally thank the hotel management for serving mainly the Indian dish in the dinner.
Overall a very memorable experience for me & my family and to all nature lovers if u want to go to pelling do stay in this Elgin Property & trust me it worth the extra premium charged by the hotel. Whole heartedly recommended.

Elgin Mount Pandim Pelling Hotel is an amazing place to stay with serene surroundings, friendly staff and delicious piping hot food. 3 nights is minimum what you should spend here, and possibly I would suggest if you are nature lover do not go anywhere else, stay here and enjoy the property and the surroundings.

Normally people do Pelling and may be 1 or 2 more hill stations such as Kalimpong (a place to be avoided, no sight seeing, highly commercial and dirty hill station) for people who yet to discover the North Bengal & Sikkim hill stations should couple Gangtok with Pelling or Darjeeling with Pelling.

You may take day trips for which the travel desk can help you or you can also pre book on your own through your agent or any agent in Siliguri/Sikkim, prices may vary a bit from different agents.

Do not keep the car all through which you hire from Siliguri, instead hire a car from a travel guy in Sikkim throughout from pick up to drop at Siliguri station/airport as the bengal registration cars are not allowed up for sight seeing, so you will end up hiring two cars which will be a waste. You must stress on providing you with a calm driver and a good condition car as the Sikkim drivers are very rough in driving and their attitude.

Hope the above information will help you plan better. All the best & enjoy your holidays!!!!

Room Tip: Garden view rooms on higher floors are the best.

Elgin Mount Pandim Pelling
We stayed at Eligin Mount Pandim for 3 days, and our experience was awful. On our arrival day we saw a snake in the front garden. The room are dated and filthy, there is no air conditioning in the hotel, window handles are broken, the bathroom stinks, no hot water, no pressure in tapes, stairs leadind to hallway are dirty, and there is plenty of insects in the hotel. We felt sorry for the staff as they are used for multi tasking from carrying luggage being Chiefs and also being Waiters. We also stayed at Elgin in Kalimpong and that was even worse. The hotel has very poor standards will not recommend
Elgin group of hotels to anyone.

Dear Ms Sidhpura!

We first of all thank you for choosing our hotel to stay at . As Pemayangtse (Pelling ) is a very remote and beautiful location in the Himalayas ! we do get occassional garden snakes in the lawns and gardens of the resort which are perfectly non- poisoness and harmless . We are sorry that this was a real concern for you although our gardeners do our best to keep a watch.

Now our investigation revelas that you asked for a full cash refund because for this episode and it is our management good pracctise to repay in kind such as a complimentary stay . However u have flatly refused our offer and instead threatened us of an awful review instead which u have done so . Discerning readers will however clearly see your review as a very biased one sided review in comparison to the overall rating and other guest reviews we have received .

This is a Superb Hotel in every sense. You can view the Kanchenjunga Mountains and especially the Tiger hill right from your room and the view is breathtaking. Very well maintained hotel with excellent service. While going up the mountains to reach Pelling , you never know what kind of hotel you might end up with , especially after braving the bad roads on the way, But the Hotel just takes your breath away.

The Food is also very good , especially the Lunch Buffet which is quite elaborate and rightly priced

We relished every moment that we spent in the Hotel. Thanks Elgin for making the stay a truly pleasant experience.

Room Tip: Just ensure that the room is facing the TIger hills and the Lawn, which i am sure most of them do. A...

The staff at Elgin make you feel at home the minute you step in. The warmth and genuine interest in your comfort is outstanding and something that comes from a deep sense of pride in their work. We had a lovely suite with an outstanding view, and a fireplace that is a delight on cold evenings. The hill and garden is home to a host of lovely Himalayan birds and the best time to spot them are early in the morning. The food involves a lot of local vegetables and is done very well. Having a leisurely lunch on the porch outside the dining area is great. Overall, an outstanding place.

The hotel is so beautifully located that the mountains that every one hankers after are within 'touching" distance. The view is stunning.
The food is the best we had in Sikkim. The secret being that they stick to what they do well...Indian food. The wait staff are excellent and Ms. Tshering and Mr Rao are doing a great job in looking after their guests.
The downside for us, but a compliment for the hotel, was the crowds in the hotel! We did go at peak season and should not have expected it to be quiet and calm. It can get hot in May and their are no fans.
Will definitely revisit if we ever go to that part of the country again.

Room Tip: Room 201 and 301 seem to have good views.
