Grand Oak is a great hill locked property . A great place to unwind and relax with the family and friends. You are in the middle of nature and a great experience to be with oneself. It is quite a bit of road journey and takes its toll . It is in the heart of a sanctuary and located on a hill. The weather is cold even in summers and can change rather quickly. Property owners are a set of warm hosts. Food quality is good but the variety can be improved. Indeed a beautiful and serene location.

no complaints at all !! super location ,therefore not easily acessable, but the drive there is special , the place is clean, the food is good and a young couple that own the property live on the premises and are there to help and guide you for any assistance you may need.Plenty of birds and pheasents were spotted and one coud hear the barking deer and Sambar ocassionally.

Will reccomend GOM to all my friends and will go back again when next in Binsar

Binsar, is the Himalayas you remember from your childhood (not the current nainital Manali category). Pristine- forest walks- birds- wild flowers, it is absolutely picture book. And then when you walk up to Grand Oak with its almost overwhelming view and a poignant chapel under a gigantic 300 year old Oak tree, you know you are in for a terrific ride. The rooms are super clean, simple and tastefully done. The loos are very well done. The whole property with its silence and wide spaces entices you to let go and free fall. You can just slump yourself next to butterflies and small wild flowers in any of the garden areas around and just look onto all of Kumaon. Sindhu and Shikha are extremely warm hosts. The staff is well mannered and genuine without being intrusive. And to top it all, the food is absolutely lip smacking. Made mostly with fresh herbs plucked from around the forest- it just completes the experience. I wish to be back there very soon.

Words cannot describe the beauty of this place. It is 1 place from where you can enjoy the beauty of the entire Kumaon hills, go for early morning bird-watching treks and forget all your worries of the world.

The staff is very friendly and efficient and ALWAYS available. The owners Sindhu & Shikha are great hosts and made us feel very much at home. The food is delicious and the hotel normally takes care of most of your requests.

Definitely a place to come back to for any number of reasons.

Room Tip: 1. The hotel is inside the Wildlife Sanctuary, so arrive there before 5pm as the Sanctuary closes th...

We just came back yesterday night from our trip from Binsar and there is one word to describe the same.. MAGICAL...

First about the hotel :
1- It is the residence of Sir Henry Ramsay the commisioner of kumaon and you can understand why he chose this location. It offers a 360 panoramic view of the entire himalayan ranges and on a clear day you can see the snow peaks of the Trishul Ranges. On the other side if you have a lucky day you can also see the nepal side of the himalayas..
2- Recommend at least a 3 night stay to truly savor the place as day 1 you would reach by evening and you need at least 2 full days to enjoy the tranquility.
3- The residence has been lovingly restored by Sindhu and his lovely spouse Shikha and you would see many raj artefacts in the living room/library and the ballrooms.. overall gives you a feeling of nostalgia.
4. You get beautiful views of the sunset from the balcony.
5. Recommend going for a 4 hour nature and bird watching walk with Puran Singh as he is the best.

Some Important things to know before you book.
1- Power is only available from Sunset till 2230 hours
2- this is not a luxury hotel but is fairly adequate with clean rooms and an amazing staff and absolutely passionate owners. Sindhu is a great story teller
3- Food we were happy with 2 out of 3 days!! THe kumaoni mutton curry was amazing.

Room Tip: FIrst floor rooms provide the best view although the ground floor rooms arent bad!!

What a truly memorable place to stay - with 360 degree panoramic views and wonderful hospitality. Food was excellent as were the owners and staff - our rooms had incredible views from the balconies - only grumble would be I had to ask for the electricity to be turned on at 6.30pm as getting very dark. The peace and quiet was most welcome and there are so many wonderful walks - the countryside was breath-taking and we have some wonderful memories to cherish. Thank you.
