A lovely little property offers a home away from home experience in idyllic conditions. It is nicely located overlooking a valley and offers a lovely view. The rooms are well designed, comfortable and clean. Fresh clean linen and a welcoming visage are what the rooms offer you on arrival. The wide veranda outside the rooms offers a convenient sit out offering a lovely view and good sunshine. The care-taker couple, Ramesh and Bharti are very welcoming and have a very positive attitude and a never say die spirit. They will willingly go out of their way to do all that has to be done to make your stay comfortable. The food is amazing using fresh ingredients from the kitchen garden. Fresh home-made pickles and salads complete the meal. The lady has that gift that separates a really good cook from one that is just satisfactory and the food served is really superlative. The fresh ingredients go a long way in enhancing the taste of the food. Had gone there with my family consisting of wife, two grown up kids and mother and they all enjoyed the stay thoroughly.

Room Tip: Rooms on road level (upper level) have best view, breeze and sunshine

We spent a night in the colonel's cottage and have very nice experience. The rooms are clean, well furnished and decorated; The meals are homely prepared and the food is fresh and tasty. we could have the lunch and breakfast on the terrace with a magnificent view on the beautiful hills of Uttarakhand. The managers were helpful and the owner is a nice man with whom we had a pleasant chat. One thing needs to be mentioned: it is far from the town and it is better to have a car to come. However, it is also possible to come with a taxi (what we did) and the management is helpful to contact taxis.

The cottage is situated just about 6 kms short of Mukhteshwar just slightly off the main road and I think that is one of its main USP. You will wake up in the morning hearing the birds chirping and not the cars honking. The rooms are compact, clean, airy and with fantastic views. Most of the ameneties you look forward to are available but I doubt you would spend too much time in the room as the enchanting views specially during monsoon will keep dragging you out. One special word for Ramesh ( the caretaker ) and his wife who were always serving us with a genuine smile even when we were asking for rotis at 11 in the night. And not to mention the homely taste. All in all a wonderful experience for all us including my teenaged son

Room Tip: Take the room on the top floor for the best view

The Colonel's Cottage has an nice location with a beautiful valley view. The Cottage has spacious rooms and the interiors of each room are aesthetically designed. The scenic beauty and the fruit trees around the cottage add to its beauty and brings you closer to the nature. I along with my family stayed at the cottage for 5 days just to rejuvenate ourselves from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The personal attention of the caretaker who serves a very good quality food as per your desired menu gives you a feeling of having food at your home. What adds to the pleasant stay in the cottage is the hospitality par excellence and personal attention of the proprietor of the cottage- Colonel Anita and Nagender Mishra. I strongly recommend that the people visiting Nanital and around must visit the Colonel's Cottage to make their stay pleasant and memorable.

We spent wonderful 4 days at Colonel's Cottage in May 2013. The hotel is newly constructed with well-appointed rooms - the owners have thoughtfully placed books and various games in the rooms and premises. The rooms were comfortable, and the view overlooking the valley was beautiful. The place is ideal for a relaxing trip with family and friends. The hospitality of the owners is exemplary - they go out of their way to make you comfortable and happy. They even suggest treks and trips around the place, and even accompanied us to one such waterfall. The food was another highlight of the stay - the quality and taste were excellent. We even had the pleasure of eating noodles, idlis, burgers and poha! I highly recommend this hotel and would love to visit again for a longer stay! Thank you so much Anita ji & Nagendra ji!

Room Tip: All rooms have a beautiful view of the valley.
