“Another excellent stay!”

Second stay at the lovely Scalloway Hotel, get's better everytime! Lovely room overlooking the front with views over the water. Excellent food! First night dined in the restaurant and second night in the bar/lounge area. Make sure you book in advance, can get very busy. Excellent service by owners and the whole team, happy and smiley waitress too! Will be back!

“An excellent Burns Night in Scalloway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 January 2014 via mobile

I had been keen to find somewhere well recommended to have a Burns Night supper whilst holidaying in Shetland. Excellent restaurant reviews on TA plus great customer engagement (& interaction) on Twitter meant I needed little convincing that this was the place to come on the big day. I was delighted to have my table booking accepted by exchanging tweets. Come the night we were not disappointed! Excellent fare, including the traditional haggis, needs and tatties but presented in a new away (for me), was complimented by friendly, highly professional waiting staff and a delightful and knowledgeable châtelaine. The restaurant was packed by the time we left - always a positive sign of excellence!

“Truly excellent restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2014

Polite, courteous and welcoming.

The ambience was plain and simple but perfectly reasonable.

Here was an excellent choice on the menu; and impressed by the choice of wine 'by the glass' and speciality gins.

We had the mussels for starter and these were actually the best I have ever had- clearly extremely fresh and the sauce was remarkable.

For main my wife had the catch of the day: plaice... This was cooked to perfection and was a real delight. I had the fish pie which was ambrosia-like with a beautiful sauce and large fleshy chunks of haddock.

I am typically a harsh critic, but I was very impressed with the quality of meal which was provided here.

“Great food with a local twist”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 December 2013

I've eaten here on business a few times and never been disappointed. This was as good a meal as any I've had. The halibut was out of this world - would fly back to Shetland just to have some more. The menu has some real local delicacies on it and the waiter very helpfully brought us a raw Shetland black potato to inspect when we asked some questions about it. The Shetland-style Scotch egg was brilliant - salted whiting rather than sausagemeat which worked really well. And it has the most fabulous curtains you'll ever see in a restaurant. It's not the cheapest place to eat but it's worth it for the quality.
