“A ruin worth visiting!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014

The castle is a ruin so not a huge amount to see, however it is free to enter and there are stairs to the first floor where there are views over Scalloway bay.

“Scalloway Castle”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

Interesting castle to visit, with the opportunity to go inside and up to first floor Great Hall. Also take the chance to go to museum beside the castle to learn more of the history of Scalloway, and of the Shetland Bus. Make sure that walk along the front to the memorial to the many Norwegian sailors who lost their lives taking operatives to and from Norway. and who really did prevent Hitler from producing an atomic bomb!

“Staff made it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014 via mobile

The staff made this day out for us as they were so friendly and accommodating to us all, you weren't made to feel like tourists you were made to feel like friends, which is true of all the shetlanders we met while on holiday. You can go to the castle after visiting the museum which is a great place to visit also

“Interesting History”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2014

Of course it's largely a ruin but the history surrounding Scalloway Castle and the notorious Earl Patrick Stewart documented on boards within makes fascinating reading. It's worthwhile visiting the castle (free) along with the very good Scalloway Museum next door (admission charge).
