Having read good reviews and hearing from friends of friends, we were looking forward to this restaurant to cap off our stay in lovely Sifnos. We were a big group, well accommodated and welcomed by a friendly and professional staff. The menu is interesting, offering both traditional and innovative Greek dishes, along with several selections to suit anyone looking to diversify from Mediterranean flavours. Of the appetizers, the fava spread and eggplant salad, with a smoky hint, Were excellent. The ubiquitous Greek salad was disappointing- at the height of summer, the tomatoes seemed under ripe, and maybe even hydroponic... Not sure what was up with that, but in a place where fresh veggies are a hallmark, these tomatoes almost ruined my meal altogether!
Mains were tasty- the lamb burger received raves, the giant pork chop delighted the teen who ordered it, my chicken in clay pot with sausage and apple flavourful and well seasoned. Three of our group had the chicken curry, and found it "different" - still tasty, but not creamy or balanced by sweet undertones.
Service was sort of typical island speed.... We had a very long gap between starters and mains, and the wait for our bill was very long, even after asking. Not a problem for a couple or small group content to linger, but a bit of a stretch for a large and varied group seated on the very hot second floor patio after a long sun filled day!
I would give Absinthe another go.... Maybe for a quiet meal with my beloved should we ever find ourselves back in Sifnos.
