Absolutely fabulous! I can not say enough about Stella and her family. This is almost like a private resort. Just go, you will not be sorry! Spectacular views, wonderful pool, nice breakfast, delicious Sunday morning Greek specialty dish, clean, friendly, I could go on, but you feel in every way that you are on top of the world!

It's worth the 100+ steps and walk up the hill from the seafront and its restaurants each evening, to return to the peace and comfort of this welcoming hotel.
Breakfast is great, especially on Sundays when Stella prepares a traditional island dish, as well as the fresh figs, nectarines, plums, grapes... fresh eggs, local bread etc.

Stella and her family are so friendly and welcoming you cannot help but love this place from the first moment you arrive. Greeted at the port with a wide smile and "Welcome to Sifnos" we felt like we were visiting long lost family! The hotel is wonderfully clean. Our first room was small and pretty basic but we didn't need anything more. It was cleaned to the highest standards every day. 2nd room much more spacious but both had beautiful sea views.
The pool area is indeed an oasis. A bright and welcoming area and you won't find a cleaner pool anywhere! Breakfast was lovely too with fresh fruits and greek yoghurt the favourite for my daughter. We loved it so much we returned from Serifos early and spent our last 3 days at Margado - testament in itself to the high quality feel of this delightful family run hotel. We most certainly will be back, and this time it will be like visiting old friends. Thank-you Stella!

We were happy to stay at Margado; enjoyed view from the terrace, breakfasts (especially yummy Greek yoghurt with honey or exellent jams) beside the pool, peaceful moments at the comfortable sunbeds & refreshing and clean pool & tranquil music.. Our room was quite basic, but delightfully clean with a nice terrace. Great exercise every time you return to Margado ;-), it takes only 5 minutes..

And Stella's "Revithada" is absolutely the best!

Kamares is such a great base for staying at Sifnos and take your opportunities to explore the whole island; our favorities Artemonas, Apollonia, Kastro, Faros and Heronisos (exellent taverna on the left!)

The Margado (well, the actual transliteration from Greek is Marganto, but who's quibbling?) is a well-run, family-operated B&B. Stella is an efficient hostess who delivers what she promises, including pick-ups at the port, recommendations for places to eat, etc. I think we might have caught Stella a little off-guard because we just didn't feel as though we "clicked" with her as much as other guests seem to have done. Well, whatever ... it didn't make that big a difference to our stay. The pool is well cared for. Breakfast starts at 8 and there are no coffee-making facilities in the rooms.

One thing I really did grow to appreciate in hindsight was that Stella follows the rules. One thing that you will notice in Greece ... tax evasion is RAMPANT and BLATANT. Everyone will try not to give you a receipt (even though it's the law ... and even if you pay with a credit card); some places won't even ring your transactions up on the till. They'll just write down the amount you owe and then open the till and count out your change. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal to American readers but if you're from another Eurozone country that is bailing out Greece with billions in handouts, it doesn't feel nice to see that your taxes are going to support a country of people that apparently just don't feel like paying taxes. (I don't mean to get political, and I do support the euro in general, but, hey, this is how I felt every time I had to ASK for a receipt.) In contrast, Stella was very particular with her book-keeping and receipt preparation. Brava, Stella!

We stayed at Margado for six nights during summer (july) 2011. The hotel is located on the hillside above the village of Kamares, resulting in an absolute fabulous view over the Kamares bay. The owner met us at the ferry on arrival and drove us and our luggage up the hill (and back down again when we left). It is good to know that there is a level difference from the hotel down to the town and the beach that can be a bit tough if you are disabled or travelling with small children, but we had no trouble at all and it was so worth it because of the views!

We stayed in the two bed standard room which was great and clean and with a nice balcony. The breakfast was served by the poolside and was very good, and Stella, the owner was very friendly and accommodating. The village of Kamares is cosy with several tavernas and small restaurants, and the beach is wonderful. I would love to return to Sifnos, and if so, I would definitely stay at Margado again!
