“Stunning villa that has been furnished to the highest possible standard”
Reviewed 8 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

My partner, baby daughter and I visited Carmine for a long weekend in September 2013 with a view to holding our wedding there next summer. We were a little nervous as we landed in Perugia because we had built it up so much in our minds but, from the moment we drove through the gates, we knew we had nothing to worry about - it was everything that we had wished for and more! The first thing that strikes you is the setting as the views are fabulous being surrounded by beautiful countryside and vineyards. The buildings themselves have also been beautifully restored and the attention to detail really stands out. The furniture in the property is lovely and the beds are to die for - we haven't had such a good night's sleep in such a long time, especially having a 10 month old! Many of the rooms have their own outdoor space, whether that be a little veranda or a balcony, and there are also a couple of large tables where the whole party could sit and enjoy a long lunch. The swimming plan is also something special and our daughter absolutely loved it!

Finally I must leave a note about the managers, David and Chrissie, who truly went above and beyond expectations. Firstly Chrissie drove us around numerous other properties on the Friday afternoon which we were researching for our guests. Then on the Friday evening they came down and prepared us a lovely dinner which catered for my partner who is a vegetarian. Their 2 gorgeous daughters also entertained our baby girl all night - singing and dancing for her until she couldn't keep her little eyes open any longer!

Needless to say we have now returned home and immediately booked our wedding there for next September. The property ticked everyone of the boxes we wanted for our special day and we know that we couldn't be in better hands than we are with Chrissie and David. We truly can't wait!

“A wonderful holiday rental”
Reviewed 22 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

This newly renovated property is beautifully designed. It has all mod cons and has been very well thought out. The pool is perfect with night lights. The property is located in a lovely quiet valley of grape vines and olive trees with plenty of lovely walks. The couple that rent out the property could not be more helpful or attentive. We had a BBQ most nights and sat round the huge outside table eating chatting and looking at the stars. We have already rebooked for next summer. Dream vacation spot.

“An absolutely fantastic idyll in a perfect location”
Reviewed 13 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

The website doesn't do it justice. The care and attention to detail is impressive. The space allows group gatherings and also enough separate areas for individual peace and quiet. You can tell that the owners have prepared it as if they were going to stay in it themselves. The support from the local team was excellent. The vegetable garden was a delight.

The property is accessible for those with limited mobility, but not for a wheelchair user.

“A dream come true - calm charm and beauty - everything is possible”
Reviewed 18 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Beautiful location, wonderful house and church, perfect design and decoration, positive surprises everywhere! On top of that perfect service, if you can get David to cook for you, your better of than at a restaurant! Words fall short, what you see on the website is more than true, as you can't see the great service, everything else is there in true charm!

“Gorgeous villa in a stellar location”
Reviewed 15 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We stayed at Chiesa Del Carmine for a week with another family and friends. Arriving jetlagged from HK, the property was truly an oasis. I was very grateful that the fridge and cupboards had staples provided which made the need to get to the shops less urgent. Over the week we spent hours at the gorgeous pool, watched the Wimbledon final in the church - amazing - visited Assisi, Gubio and Orvieto and enjoyed Umbria Jazz. All of that plus beautiful accommodation, local walks, great food (including the house garden) and wine had us planning the next visit. This place is ideal for large groups of family or friends because there is so much space. It has been modernised in a sensitive way, and aesthetically really is beautiful. A wedding in the church would be very special. Our only regret was that inclement weather meant the truffle hunt was called off - oh well next time!

“The perfect retreat for rest, relaxation and recharging”
Reviewed 2 July 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Its hard to do justice to somewhere this special with only a few words but i'll have a good go. Chiesa Del Carmine is a rare thing, neither photos, nor anything I or anybody else writes can do it justice.

Nestled in the middle of a secluded and luscious valley in Umbria (The Green Heart of Italy), the property is made up of two equally beautiful buildings, all surrounded by vines, olive trees and a recently planted truffle wood. The main communal space at Carmine (a large living room, dining area & kitchen) is situated in a gorgeously converted 11th century chapel whilst a similarly characterful farmhouse has beds to sleep 14 people. Each room has its own distinct and individual character and furnishings whilst there is a pleasing continuity of style that runs throughout. The finish on everything be it doors, showers, beds or window shutters is of the highest quality. Special mention must be given to my mattress which was without doubt one of the most comfortable I have slept on.

The space surrounding the villa is just as stunning if not more so than the finely crafted interiors. There are several different small private seating areas, as well as large tables at which everyone can gather. There is also a herb, fruit and vegitable garden provided for guests to use and enjoy. Food and drink makes up a big part of what is so special about this region of Italy and Carmine reflects that brilliantly.

The pool is glorious, and can be heated, though when I was there it was more than warm enough, and is another space that is perfectly suited to provide a large group of friends or family with the perfect space to enjoy some time away.

Carmine is a joy, a quiet and welcoming home away from home that accepts and relaxes you instantly. Chrissie and David (who manage the property) are very helpful, never more than a call away they are always there to help or make suggestions on what to do in the local area and beyond.

In short Carmine is a delight, and I certainly hope to be going back very soon.

“Something special - Peace and comfort in a beautifully restored medieval church”
Reviewed 8 April 2013 for a stay in April 2013

I stayed here this Spring, with family, including children (9 -11 years old). We loved the mixture of history and luxurious comfort. Great for long walks in the countryside and visits to the medieval towns nearby. Ideal for groups of friends or families who want to rest, eat and spend quality time together.
