“A Corner of Heaven On Earth”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2014

We will never forget the great moments we spent at the "Almdorf Seinerzeit" in Patergassen, Austria. It was genuinely an experience.
The friendliness and the hospitality of the staff really touched us. The view from every angle of this place is breathtaking, the Cottages are aesthetically beautiful and the Tree House seems to be set in Paradise. Everything was perfect, from the moment we parked the car, until we left.
We highly recommend "Almdorf Seinerzeit". It is a corner of Heaven on Earth!

We have been 1 week in Almdorf Seinerzeit. The location is just great, as the service. You can enjoy your house, all for you, with a great in-room service; all employees are extremely friendly. Absolutely recommendable!!!

We drove 10hrs to get there but it was certainly worth it! Such a pitoresque place, cosy & lovable hut, friendly staff & nice food! Traveling with 2 small kids was not an issue here, some presents & toys for them & the room totally prepared for their stay! We just loved every single minute of it! The way of serving & presenting the breakfast was impeccable ! Just loved it! Money well spent!

Almdorf Seinerzeit is like an alpine Toytown. A self contained village of around 29 cutesy wood huts with logs stacked outside and mountains all around. The 2 storey chalets are a treat, cosily adorned in traditional Austrian style with fireplaces, folksy kitchens, red gingham bedding, even a wooden bathtub. Communal areas complete the impossibly pretty rustic village picture. Staff are kind and helpful. The chalet 'elf' lets him/herself in at a pre-arranged time and sets up breakfast in the snugly dining area and returns later to clear up. He sneaks back mid afternoon with cake too. All meals including a BBQ can be taken in-chalet. There is also the pretty Fellacher Restaurant which serves good traditional Austrian fare, a set 30 euro menu or a la carte. A highlight for us was dinner in Holzknechthutte, 'the smallest restaurant in the world.' This diminutive wooden den with a picture window over the mountains seats a maximum of 4 people and needs booking well ahead to ensure a slot. It was like a sauna during our hot summer visit as the meal is cooked in front of you on the oven. The chef, Horst is a charismatic colourful character who made the experience an utter hoot (get him to show you the finger!). The food was good, hearty stuff and included a starter platter, soup, frigga (peasanty egg dish), superb steak from the locality and finally Horst's famous Grand Marnier pancakes. Way too much food and we were close to exploding but each course was very enjoyable and well worth the 95 euro per head charge though a little wasted on our 5 year old who was served the same menu and charged the same price. There probably is the option to arrange an alternative for kids but the food was automatically served to us so we went with the flow. All drinks including wine, schnapps and coffee are additional. In terms of passing the hours here, for adults there is the spa, sauna and various hiking trails. For kids a raft on the mini pond, a small array of animals (cats, rabbits, donkey), and the opportunity to run free and be at one with nature. Whilst in the mountains the hotel isn't a long way off the main road so it is a reasonable base for exploration too. We had a very enjoyable stay and would love to see the hotel in winter, it must be a magical wonderland in snow.

We stayed for few days and its just a dream. We miss it already and will come back for sure
The huts are very nice with a beautiful fireplace for the winter month. It's well equipped with all u need.
Breakfast will be service in the hut to the time u wish, large and daily changing selection.
Service is excellent and super friendly.
The food is very delicious with many Bio products from the region and the farmers around.
The GM couple Werner and Nadine are very helpful and super friendly.

Make sure u heat the pool in front of the hut with wood fire before dinner and enjoy the stars with a glass of wine after the delicious dinner in one of the restaurants.
Try Horst private dinner in the smallest restaurant.
Thank you very much for this lovely time.
Looking forward to be back.

After having spent a week in this resort and also knowing its copy "Priesteregg" we can only say: Comgratulations. This is how one should build such a hut resort in the alps.
+:
Service, food, classic interior design, very organized and helpful and FRIENDLY staff, wonderful surrounding
-:
Prizes for food and beverages in the hut (food, drinks, snacks) too high, extra guests 55 Euro per night surplus to the already quite pricy € 300+/night hut rental.

Overall: Guys you do a great job! Keep pushing - you are setting standards!
Small tipp to the new leasholder:
Adapt your (in-hut) food & beverage prizes to a normal level that matches local prices (white wine starting from € 30, water over € 5! etc...) - it's still Kärnten and not St. Moritz ;-)...

The little chalets are absolutely perfect for a summer mountain holiday with children to introduce them to Alpine and Austrian culture. We really loved the breakfast that was set in our kitchen before we got up and the barbecue dinner that was set up for us on our balcony, as well as the open fire, candlelit chalet, indoor and outdoor wooden bathtub and the axe for chopping wood! The only downside is that the very beautiful pond was just too chilly to swim in (in August!) though I suppose that some years the weather must be better and the water a little more appealing.
