I stayed here with a large group of friends and enjoyed the stay. As one of my friends is a native Japanese speaker, I didn't have to do much in terms of check-in, but as far as I could tell, it went smoothly. I think it was run by a Japanese couple and the wife is very friendly.
We stayed for a total of 4 nights, and was told that the cleaners will have to clean our lodge at least once every 3 days. During the cleaning session, we have to make sure that the lodge is completely empty, which means that our bags will have to be deposited at the front desk. I found that very annoying but I was told that they implemented this policy because in the past, there were guests who complained that things went missing. I met the cleaners and they looked like a very honest bunch - middle-aged to old housewives-type of women. I just can't imagine them rustling up stuff.
That annoying policy aside, I enjoyed my stay at the lodge. There were 8 people sharing the lodge; there were 4 beds on the lower floor, and a big tatami floor area on the upper floor (good for 4 futons). The dining table on the main floor is spacious and the kitchen is adequate. It is a fully-equipped kitchen with a rice cooker, toaster, microwave, fridge, freezer, pots and pants, plates, kettle (it also keeps water hot), cutlery, chopping board and knives.
There is only one toilet in the lodge, and that can be a pain, The toilet is seperate from the shower area. The shower area is large and the water pressure is satisfyingly strong - very nice! There is a bathtub too.
The best part of the lodge is the rotemburo (outdoor onsen). Yes, it is small and probably only good for two person at one time, but it is a little piece of heaven! It is accessible from the shower area.
As guests of the lodge you will have access to their indoor BBQ area. I didn't use it but saw other guests hanging around, and they seem to enjoy it. There is also a vending machine next to it.
Location: the lodge is 2-minute walk to the 24-hour Family Mart. It's literally across the street. It is about a 10-minute walk to Kawaguchiko lake which has fantastic views of the surrounding mountains.
