We went on a tour of the Mt. Fuji area the day that a typhoon was expected. It was rainy and cold, so this lunch at Sun Kiyosumi was just what we needed. The restaurant is above their souvenir shop, and it looks very plain and cafeteria-like, with long tables set up for tour group lunches. The hot pots were heated to boiling by a small block of burning fuel. It was mostly vegetables, but there was a vegetarian option, which was simply done by replacing the shrimp tempura with a vegetable.
The meal was surprisingly filling. The staff made sure everyone was seated and then kind of disappeared.
