we stayed over New Year the room was clean and well stocked with tea & coffee & shower bits.
There were plenty of nice towels aswell. The staff were very friendly & helpful. They said at first the bar menu was off but asked if there was any other food we could have before we went out they let us use the bar menu as there were only 3 of us.The food that came was good

Hi
My husband & I had another delightful stay at "The Red Lion Inn " Wingham Canterbury.

Great atmosphere, The staff, food, accomodation, Sue & John the propietors. You can't fault it in any way. Not forgetting the open log fire.

Sue's Breakfast are Delicious Sue uses all local produce. what more could you want.

We meet other guests some who stay on a regular basis on business.

Can't wait for our next visit.

If you decide to visit you will not be dissapointed. Enjoy

We've stayed at this old inn several times - on one occasion taking a party with us for a celebration - and have been most impressed by the food and hospitality.
Yes, the noise comes up through the old floorboards into the bedrooms. But this is a pub that has stayed a lively "local" and not let the catering take over the whole establishment, as other watering holes have tended to do.
However, the noise, inside and out, is a small minus here.
The food is excellent and the bar, with its roaring log fire and separate menu, is welcoming. So is John, the landlord, and his wife, Sue, who serves the breakfast, sizzling with its local produce.
I would dismiss criticism that the decor is tired. An old inn should look a little this way. and we loved the shelves, groaning with books. We thought the decor suited the pub.
The lock to our bedroom gave up the ghost, leaving us trqpped inside. I made a phone call to the inn's emergency number, and John came to the rescue. We slid the key to him through the gap under the door - something that would be impossible at a modern Holiday Inn!
The Red Lion and its landlord are full of character ... the way a traditional English inn is supposed to be.

Spent another wonderful night at the Red Lion. The second time this year and full of beautiful character, warmth and hospitality. The staff cannot do enough for you and food was great. Took the inlays for their Christmas break and they could not be happier. A real little gem and we will be back.

The Red Lion is a very old Inn, full of history and character. Our bedroom was no exception and had its own place in the history of this inn - it was the magistrates room. The bed was the biggest I have ever slept in and so comfy. The bathroom was spotless with all the necessary toiletries you could need. Downstairs was the bar and restaurant with the an amazingly friendly staff. The food in the restaurant was smashing, a great choice of wine and all at reasonable prices. This is an inn that deserves the nicest of people staying because the treatment you receive is so welcoming and warm. Our thanks to John and his team who made this weekend really special.

Room Tip: I wouldn't think it would matter which room you stayed in - the windows are large so it's li...

Three nights stay in room 2 was an amazing experience. What a room! Spacious, clean, comfortable, brilliant king size bed. Lovely friendly, helpful staff, very welcoming. Fantastic full English breakfast with the tastiest eggs and sausages you could find. We had a wonderful time. Only down side - NO GHOST. David and Helen
