My husband, me, Daughter and her 8 year old stayed 9 peaceful nights 26 July/04 Aug 13 in Family Unit 6. Was clean, private, handy to everything I needed. Large bowl of fruit in room for us and plenty of tea/coffee. Room was serviced daily except Sundays and when we didn't require service. Lagoon was just right for our Moko (Grandchild)to splash around in. Didn't use the BBQ as the cylinder couldn't be turned on. Didn't tell the owners at the time, didn't want to be annoying then forgot to so it could be fixed for other guests, sorry.

Hosts and cleaning staff were very friendly. On arriving in Raro the host Robin was there to meet and greet us and promptly organised us into the van and gave a few running commentaries on our way to Kuras Kabanas which was a nice added touch.

If you want to be a tourist without the bother of lots of other tourist around you, then this is the place to go. We travelled over as a family group of 20. The others stayed at two other places which were flash I suppose but didn't compare to Kuras for the views or tranquility.

If your a light sleeper, the top units might not be for you as you could hear the scooters etc zapping past thru the night. The noise on the first night I could hear was only the waves down further but I got used to it.Only nuisance thing was the way the main entrance screen doors opened onto the units nextdoor and vice versa. Animals didn't bother us at all.
Would recommend Kuras Kabanas anytime to everyone.

We had a great time here. Even though we stayed in the Kabana that was furthest away from the beach it was not a problem. Relaxing, close to the beach and we were welcomed with flowers and a ride from the airport. The owner even let us stop on the way to get supplies from the supermarket. As can be seen from all the other reviews it was a fantastic great stay.

If there was any negative thing to comment about it was the chickens/hens that make a noise at sunrise 5am so on some nights I would get woken up by them so recommend bring some earplugs or something. Dont let this stop you for choosing this as your accommodation on Muri Beach. Watch out for the crabs and sand holes around the accommodation- they are best seen at night with a torch shined on them as that is when they come out!

Room Tip: kubana closest to beach best but nothing wrong with any others.

We stayed at the "Grand Villa" (upstairs) which is a short walk away from the cabinas and the lagoon. The view over the lagoon is delightful and the property clean and well maintained. Having the "early check-in" was wonderful with our flight arriving at 1:30 am. Robin made us feel welcome and was very helpful throughout our stay. We did a diving course at Pacific Divers which is only a 10+ min walk from the villa. Being able to self-cater in the villa was a big plus when returning home after a great day's diving.

We recently stayed in the family unit which is both spacious & practical with a large balcony. Kuras Kabanas overlook Muri Lagoon and are a short stroll to Muri beach along the waterfront. Restaurants and activities are close by and the staff are friendly and helpful. The units themselves are a little tired with the odd broken fitting here nad there but they are kept very clean and the beds are comfortable. If you are a light sleeper, the top floor units can quite noisy from road traffic and wind. Roosters are a regular feature on the island so be prepared for the odd early morning call. The beachfront villas would be quieter and have a more pleasant aspect acroos the lagoon, but the adjoining units are very practical for families. We rented a car and this proved to be very convenient as you travel around the island to different beaches, snorkelling locations and attractions. Waiting for a bus is a pain as it is rather old and gets very crowded - those old seats were not designed to share with some of bigger boned passengers we encountered!

We stayed at Kura's for three nights at the end of our vacation. The owner was very hospitable and helpful. They picked us up promptly from our flight and were kind enough to drive us to the airport for our very late night departure. The offer of half-day and late check-out was helpful. These options were more expensive or not offered by other accommodations we considered. It's a big bonus if you're coming or going on flights with awkward arrival/departure times. I would recommend asking for one of the villas near the beach if you have the option. The villas were clean, regularly serviced and in good repair. The provision of some fruit was also a nice addition. All these things considered we'd have given a 4/5 rating, but feel it important to know a few points about the location that have caused us to rate it 3/5. The water is not particularly deep at the Kabanas, making swimming less ideal than beaches a close scooter ride away. The tide also brings a strong current that makes kayaking a bit of an uphill battle at times. That said it is an easier walk over to the islands than other locations on Muri Beach. So if you're renting for the beachfront just be aware of this. If you're not, Kura's has good service, facilities and value.
