I am a Cook Islander raised in the island of Rarotonga and now living in Australia. My family and I went home to Rarotonga tfor family reunion. During our vist we stayed at a great location right at the door step of Muri lagoon and Taakoka motu. We enjoyed the relaxed and laid back atmosphere Muri Beach Resort offered. The beatiful tropical gardens. A big thank you to Sala at the reservation office for her exceptional service in making our family feel welcome during our stay at Muri Beach Resort. Nii at the bar for looking after us when we dined at the Aqua Cafe. And the owners of Muri Beach Resort for helping us with a homeopathic remedy to assist with our young sons ear infection before we hopped on the plane - it worked and our son had no ear ache during our return flight to Perth. This was our second stay at Muri Beach Resort, the previous visit with our 4 children was so great we came back without them for our anniversary and our memories of the resort did not disappoint. The staff are so friendly, always a greeting, asking how your activities went, no request is a problem. We love the smaller resort atmosphere, so relaxing, authentic Island style. We also love the eco focus of the resort. The pool and restaurant/bar never too busy to be served promptly or enjoy a swim several times a day! The Happy Hour cocktails are a great time to chat to other guests. The room (16) upstairs beachfront apartment was well equipped and very clean. We had amazing massages from the onsite therapist. Highly recommend that! The new Nautilis Resort being built next door will be an added treat with extra dining options and facilities available to Muri Beach Resort guests. And even though its currently under construction we barely noticed it was even there. The location on the lagoon is also perfect with everything you need within 2-10mins walk, cafes, shops, pharmacy, internet cafe, car & scooter hire, bus at the gate. Walk along the road or the beach. Thank you Muri Beach Resort for another fabulous holiday in your little piece of paradise! We can't wait to come back :D

Room Tip: It is definitely breezier near the beachfront which was a God send on the hot hot days but if you pr...

This was our first time in Raro and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit (Room 7) and it was perfect for our needs - a family of four. Close to the pool for early morning swims and only 50 steps to the ocean! The room was clean and well maintained (with air con - thank god!..lol) and had a gorgeous covered deck out the front to relax under, out of the direct sun. All the units are surrounded by lush, green foliage which provides privacy and shade, not to mention looks beautiful.

The restaurant opens out onto the pool, with a good balance of covered and uncovered areas, a lovely deck at the end and a great place to relax and meet other people.

The staff were fantastic, friendly and very helpful. The cocktails were delicious and the crab racing was particularly entertaining.

If you are thinking of going to Raro, we couldn't recommend this place more!

My 3rd time in Raro and wasn't actually meant to stay here but my other accommodation was under major construction without letting me know so I went looking for alternate(2 days before Xmas!) and found Muri Beach Resort.. Met Jane the owner who I think felt sorry for me and gave me a great room for a very good price.. & this made my holiday over Xmas/NY's.. Abs perfect place to switch off and relax.. has lovely staff, rooms are spacious/clean with private balconys - all mod/cons.. relaxing Bar/restaurant with lovely chatty friendly staff, beside lovely pool - 2 4 1 cocktails at 4pm which great time to start!

Has good mix of couples/solo's and family's and always chatted away to every1 who were in the same mood, there to just relax and switch off.. literally on the Muri beach, best on island, with stunning deck views , maybe a little walk up a bit on beach to nicer/less rocky water but enjoyed the little stroll!

I will def be back as this is will be my new accom in Raro and from talking to other people, that was the consensus.. once you find this, you will be back!

We recently spent 13 nights at the Muri Beach Resort in mid-October 2013. The facilities were great, and the staff, princess Sala in the office, Betty, Chris, and particularly the lovely Vara, could not have been more friendly and helpful. They worked so hard, particularly on days when they had weddings to cater for.
However some of those weddings disrupted the resort for people who were there for a relaxing and restful time. Wedding guests typically are an insular group in party mode with minimal respect for other resort users, resulting occasionally in excessive noise beyond an acceptable time at night. The management of tourist resorts in Raro, including Muri Beach Resort management, which try to cater for both tourists and weddings, need to decide which of the two groups are their core business, ensure that the needs of tourist guests do not become subservient to the wedding parties.
Would I go back, yes I would, particularly for the super friendly and caring staff, the excellent food, and the great cocktail hour each evening.

Room Tip: Dont get hung up on Ocean View, as the garden villas are also good.

Spacious villas, friendly staff, particularly Sala. Nothing too much trouble. Not need for car, plenty within walking distance along with activities, but wheels allow you to see more of the island, so you can hop on hop off. Restaurant, excellent food. Plenty of towels available. Paradise. We were there for a wedding, and can understand the review regarding weddings. Raro is famous for weddings, and ours was wonderful.

Room Tip: All rooms appear to have cool areas, air con. The sea front rooms, the best but further from the poo...

We recently returned from Muri Beach Resort where we were married. What an absolutely tranquil place. The place has a feel of "home away from home", very peaceful and low key. Often it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. There is no feeling of "hustle and bustle" with people checking in and out, or staff scurrying around that you may experience at larger resorts. It's very casual and laid back. The staff are all lovely and friendly and leave you to do your own thing, not in your face trying to sell you tours or trying to secure dinner reservations. The are very helpful when you ask them for recommendations however. The location is terrific! It has a lovely village feel with plenty of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. I would recommend taking a torch if you plan to walk back to the resort along the beach at night, to avoid any stubbed toes. There's a car/scooter hire just along the road and a dairy at the end of the driveway. There's also a pharmacy and a great gift shop about 5 mins walk away. Easy walking distance to TeVaraNui and Captain Tamas Lagoon cruises which I highly recommend, great value for money! Big thanks to Chrissy and her team who took care of all our wedding preparations. Made our day totally stress free which is how it should be. Much love, thank you all at Muri Beach Resort.
Rach and Gavin.
