We had a great time in Rarotonga, and a big part of this was because of the Pacific Resort. The hotel is at Muri Beach - an absolutely beautiful location on a sandy beach. The accomodation is not super luxurious, but is clean and comfortable - perfect for lazing around on the beach and in the lagoon for a relaxing holiday. Our room had picture postcard views of the lagoon which was only metres away. The food and bars were good, but there are also plenty of options around (walking distance) if you feel like a change. We had a look at some of the more boutique hotels but were always glad to return to the Pacific Resort where everyone (including the staff) seemed happy and relaxed and having a good time. Wish I was back there right now.....

Room Tip: Go for the beachside rooms with views you will remember forever.

We stopped in Cook Islands on the way back to Australia to visit family, and stayed 5 nights at Pacific Resort Rarotonga.
Firstly, location is amazing! Muri beach is beautiful, good snorkelling, spectacular kayaking and a really safe place for the kids to swim. We stayed in one of their villas where it was a straight walk of about 20 metres from our back door down to the beach. The decor is a little dated but that is my only minor negative, and really if you are worried about the decor in your accommodations, you are missing the point of a holiday in the Cook Islands. Breakfast on the beach was fantastic, delicious fresh tropical fruit and some tasty little doughnut-type-things. Our kids spent a couple of days with the Kids Club, the first time they had attended a program like that, and they really enjoyed the activities and were instantly comfortable with the relaxed and friendly nature of the 'beach hut boys'. We found all staff friendly and helpful, if somewhat relaxed, they were never following after you to see if you needed anything, but nothing was too much trouble if you asked them for it.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone looking for a great, relaxing family holiday. Our kids regularly ask to go back, and I am certain that we will be back there to visit again some time soon.

Thrilled with all aspects of this resort. The location and grounds are exceptional, the staff friendly and helpful, the food so good we only ate away from the resort twice, the opportunities for kids varied and exciting. We stayed five nights, and could have done twice that. The only thing we were surprised at was the $120 quote for airport transfer, steep for a ten minute drive. We payed $50 for a taxi that stopped and waited while we picked up a few things from town for the flight. We'll be back.

Pacific Resort has all the fixings you'd expect from a high-end property but what makes it stand out is the quality of its staff. They seem sincerely interested in your comfort and you know they would take an extra step for you. The guy who opened the safe I inadvertently locked was efficient, pleasant and managed to humorously dismiss my idiocy. You have to make time to speak with some of the staff whose imparting of the islands' culture and heritage is compelling. How great that resorts like these can keep such human treasures on island. Even the youth drawn from other countries doing simple things like pushing laundry carts seem happy. And, if you come across a pleasant, strapping, fellow around the property who greets you warmly, and if he's not a fellow guest -- it could be the GM Greg Stannaway who keeps it all together.

We spent 8 nights here and loved every minute of it. From pick up at the airport which was so organised and easy to delivery back to the airport our stay was fantastic. The room wonderful and the view to die for. All the staff were friendly, helpful and very pleasant, nothing was too much trouble. Our breakfast was included and was lovely every day. We ate quite a few meals at the restaurant by dinner time, we were normally quite tired from our adventures during the day. The only disappointment was their glass bottom boat which only goes if there are 6 or more people, unfortunately it was low season so we couldn't go on it, but we did find another boat to go on. It isn't your cheapest option, but it was perfect for what we wanted. Happy Hour is a must, cocktail of the day just had to be tried and the bar staff, Jane, Todd, Billie & all the rest made every afternoon an enjoyable one. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms downstairs on the beach, you do get people walking past. We were quite happy to be upstairs t...

Spent 8 nights at the Pacific Resort at the end of Feb 2013, and loved every minute of it. We had a beach front suite, upstairs which gave great views of the lagoon and a very easy walk to the beach, beach hut, bar, restaurant etc etc.
The room was very comfortable and well serviced everyday ..
The resort itself id great. All staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is to much trouble.
Happy hour in the bar is a nice way to unwind after a day of relaxing.. and food in the restaurant is excellent.
The guys at the Beach Hut were friendly and to willing to help with a kayak, snorkling gear, towels etc.. always a warm, friendly welcome delivered with a big smile ..

The only criticism of the whole stay was that being off season, boat cruises etc that run from the resort did not run regularly due to lack of numbers. This was offset by a cruise organisation just up the beach that ran every day (see review on Captain Tama's Lagoon Cruizes)

All in all a fantastic holiday in a fantastic location .. highly recomended

Room Tip: Beach Front Suites offer the best view of the lagoon

First and foremost, a heart felt thank you to everyone at the Pacific Resort for providing a wonderful week for my family and me. Everyone was very freindly and they especially took care of my 2 1/2 year old, it was like having perpetual babysitting, my little man Jax took over the entire resort and we really didn't worry as everyone knew him. I big thanks to the boys (Matt, Tim, Toma, Junior and others) on the beach as they patiently allowed him to hangout with them. The ladies in the Barefoot bar and restuarant (Tangi, Memory, Jane and we must not forgot Billie)were the best.

The island is quite nice, I very pretty place, we didn't explore it too much as we just relaxed on the beach for most days. It was a great start to the trip by receiving "lays" and ending the trip with shell necklaces, both of which I suspect were from the Pacific Resort as not everyone had either.

The resort actually was not my first choice, I wanted to stay at their sister property but I must say at the end, I think we made the right choice with our 1 bedroom beachfront villa. The resort is not huge but it is larger than most on the island with beautiful grounds everywhere. A nice feature is that most beach amenties were free, like snorkling, and kayaking, for a small fee, you can paddleboard (that really should be free too)

I would definitely recommend the Cook Islands and most certainly the Pacific Resort, thanks again and see you soon.
