We have just spent eight days at Avanna waterfront apartments, and couldn't recomend them more highly. Our studio apartment was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Being right on the edge of the lagoon, and a distance from the main road, made it a peaceful and relaxing place to be, ----- the crashing of the waves onto the reef, and the bird songs being the only noise. Just delightful. Fresh limes, Pawpaw and bananas were left in our room for us to enjoy. The staff were always friendly and very helpful. Desiree is amazing. She now has a month old baby boy (Robin) to care for as well as all her other managerial duties.
Recomendations ? Everyone seems to have covered most things, ------ but try a visit to the night market (just up the road) on a Thursday evening. 5pm until 8.30pm. We enjoyed chicken and coconut curry and delicious fruit smoothies there.
We plan to return, and would DEFINITELY stay at Avanna again.

Room Tip: Their studio apartments are large, and have all the usual amenities, ----- but not a washing machine or dryer. However, you have the use of these at the cottage. Studio would suit a couple, or two friends travelling together. (double bed can be converted to two 3ft. singles.)

Appartment was great (perfect waterfront spot), Desiree brilliant, Rarotonga amazing. Having the jetty was cool for snorkelling, stonefish who lives under it was a real bonus (hadn't noticed him there for 5 days before). Fishing trip Desiree arranged was amazing, Roy had a ball and caught whopper Wahoo! Flying fishing fun too, even I caught one!

Love to go back and bring our new baby (was pregnant while there),maybe in couple years.

Our family of 12 are just back from 11 nights at the Avana and had a ball. Desiree was such an amazing help from our first email contact to the minute we left. Nothing was too much trouble - we can't wait to go back again. Beautiful fresh fruit supplied in abundance - freshly caught tuna and even a wonderful birthday cake for my husband who was celebrating a significant birthday! You can't go past this resort!

Room Tip: We had 2 two bedroom apartments and 2 studios for our family group - they are very spacious and have everything and more supplied.

My wife and I just returned from a week at Avana, our second visit (we had our honeymoon here 2 years ago). The place is even better than last time, freshly caught fish was brought to our room twice during our stay as well as fresh fruit (all free of charge!). We had a week of kayaking around the islands, diving the nearby marine reserves and surfing the reef passage in front of the apartments. I couldn't dream of a better location for my holidays. The apartments were nearly full during our stay but our room was very private and quiet. We even saw whales from the headland about 100 meters away! All I can say is we will be back as soon as we can.
Thanks again.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms would probably have the best view.

Our family of 9 adults and 2 pre-teenagers stayed at Avana Waterfront Apartments for 2 weeks during the December holidays. The manager, Reuben, was a perfect host and stopped by every day to check on the guy's fishing luck and to offer to take us on adventures like snorkeling out to the point, kayaking to the outer island, and showing the guys the best fishing spots. Desiree and Randy were so nice, and kept us comfortable and supplied with anything we needed. The apartments were fully furnished and the best spot on Raro to stay. Our family spend many hours out on the dock fishing, swimming, talking to the other guests, and just relaxing. The beach was just steps away from our apartment and each apartment had an outside shower to rinse off in. There were kayaks available for use and we loved paddling out to the outer islands to fish, swim, and explore. Each apartment had a washer/dryer and clothes line which were very convenient to have. There was a bbq that we put to good use and it allowed us to cook family meals easily. Our family voted the Avana Waterfront Apartments and Rarotonga the best vacation spot and we would love to go back this year.

Room Tip: All of the apartments are beach front and you can pick from a studio to 3 bedroom apartment depending on the size of your group.
