Fantastic! We recently stayed here for five nights for the first portion of our honeymoon and it was AMAZING! Tino picked us up from the airport, and was friendly as could be.. even at 7:40am! We stayed in Villa #5, which is slightly smaller than the rest, but a fabulous deal.

Breakfast every morning was excellent, we always had enough food to make a snack later in the day, and with the full size kitchen it was easy to pick up a few things from the market and cook a bite when we didn't feel like going out.

You've also got your own private Kayak's with anchors on them! Perfect for kayaking around the lagoon, then hopping off and snorkeling for a bit for if you see something interesting.

The only thing we could have used was a couch instead of the two wicker seats!

Overall we rate Rumours and A+! Thanks Shelly, Peter and Tino!!

My husband & I have just returned from a relaxing 5 days in Rarotonga . This was our first holiday in 25 years with out children, and Rumours was the perfect spot. We stayed at a spa villa which was right on the beach , with kayaks waiting there for use on the beautiful lagoon. The accomodation is self contained so we were able to have our own bbq on the deck with the lagoon at our door step - delightful . Other nights we went out for dinner - so many good restaurants in Raro, I was very suprised. Good quality food, local dishes, nice cocktails etc,
Rumours is beautifully decorated, with lovely super king beds , air conditioning, gorgeous bathrooms, well equipped kitchen , swimming pool etc, and best of all - private and relaxing. The rumours staff are very helpful and the spa facilities were excellent. The local people are very friendly and Raro "just feels safe'. The Saturday morning market is a must see & go hungry because food sold there is great.

WOW!! That is the only word to describe the amazing journey we had at Rumours. Right from the beginning when we had a friendly welcoming face waiting at 3am (!) to escort us to our never before experienced level of luxury.

As we walked down the beautiful secluded entrance to our villa my mouth dropped, this accomodation is STUNNING, perfect size, lovely layout, very private. As we arrived in the dark we had to wait to the next morning to see the view as often with accomodation when you book online the photo's can be deceiving. Well I can honestly say that the view exceeded all expectations. We were entranced as the waves broke on the reef past the electric blue lagoon... "Oh my...... goodness!" I excitedly giggled to my husband. We stepped off our deck past the palm tree onto a squeeky white sandy beach and instantly felt a million miles away. We jumped in our personal kayaks and paddled out to the coral, beautiful.

We have visited many places in the world and have never eased so quickly into the uncomplicated simplicity of how life should really be like on a tropical island. The hospitality shown to us by the staff was top notch, nothing was a problem.
Recommendations on places to visit were spot on. Restaurants like 'Windjammer' and the markets on the weekend are a must, and you have got to experience the island on a scooter, there is no more truly tropical laid back feeling.

We were sad to leave such a beautiful island and such fantastic accomodation, but we were buzzing with our experience at rumours and still are, it has been over a month since we visited and I have felt compelled ever since to share our journey with everybody who would lend their ear!

If you are after luxury at its best and exceptional service, this is where you want to be. We highly recommend Rumours of Rarotonga.

It's been a month since we stayed at Rumours of Romance in Rarotonga, and we're still in raptures over our experience there. Although the weather wasn't the kindest (it blew a gale the whole time), our sheltered courtyard provided us wth a wonderful haven of warmth and sunshine. Having our own pool and spa was just fabulous, meaning we didn't need to rely on the beach for swimming, and we took advantage of the barbecue for grilling our breakfast bacon and evening steaks!
The location of our villa, on the lagoon's edge, gave us a spectacular vista of the waves crashing over the reef - and we never tired of gazing at it in awe.
The interior of our villa was very luxurious, and we absolutely loved the little indoor streams with bridges over them into the bedrooms - wow! Unlike some resorts which cater for larger numbers, Rumours is quiet, intimate and exclusive - and we loved it. We are telling all our friends about it!
Our hosts and their staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive, respecting our privacy but catering to our needs. Thanks to all of them for giving us such an unforgettable holiday.

We have just returned from Raratonga having stayed at Rumours. We had a beach-front villa which was one of two.
Fabulous location and very private, which is high on our list of
priorties when choosing a place to stay. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on it's best behaviour as it rained quite alot, however they did say it was unusual for that time of year. The weather is becoming very hard to predict. Never the less we had a couple of nice days so that's better than none. The villa was clean and tidy, great use of space as well - we had our 13 yr old with us, he slept upstairs where there was 2 single beds.
There is also a spa right outside your door, so I could just walk in with my robe on and not worry about getting changed in and out of clothes, " which after a massage is a drag" .My only complaint, not with Rumours but with the island, is finding restaurants at night. They don't have well lit signs( probably due to the expense of electricity), so it makes it difficult to find them.

Also be prepared for the restaurants to be a bit on the basic side.
Don't go with high expectations as I did, however they manage to do okay food. They are very casual, and I mean casual!! However the overall stay was great, but we're still chasing the
holy grail of that fabulous ,cannot stop dreaming about holiday.
But I do recommend the only place to stay on the island would be Rumours.

We stayed at Rumours for the first part of our honeymoon based on TripAdvisor reviews, and we were slightly disappointed, however we did have a great time.
We originally booked a beachview villa, but luckily we upgraded to the beachfront villa (Villa 2). The extra money is completely worth it, the views are stunning. I'd even dare to say the beachview rooms are not worth the money, as you can get beachfront accommodation elsewhere for less money. One of the beachview rooms seemed to have another resort (Te Manava, who Rumours share a driveway with) built in front of it.
We found the service acceptable. We weren't blown away by the service (we were made to wait in a car for 20 minutes while another couple were dropped off at their villa just down the road), and it felt the staff were forcing smiles. They also didn't seem to know too much about activities on the island (note: Pa's Cross Island Trek is fantastic).
The villa is finished exceptionally well, however we had ants constantly on our dining table, and reception on the television is incredibly poor (at some times there was no picture). We weren't there to watch TV, but it would have been nice to be able to watch something other than a movie at night. I noticed other places around Rarotonga had Satelite TV, so I imagined $1200 a night might get you this at Rumours. No.
Rumours have special deals with 'Budget' for rental cars, however you can easily find a better deal by searching on the internet (you can get a little convertible for as little as $39 if you do a quick search).
The breakfasts were good. We really enjoyed cooking our own breakfast, however we enjoyed the continental breakfast more (the smoothies were delicious).
The outside pool and spa were fantastic, however the spa wasn't able to be turned up (as far as we could see). The pool was nice, but very cold, so wasn't used too much.
We had a very average dinner delivered to us from Sails (food was cold), Trader Jacks is great for lunch, and the Flame Tree was excellent.
We will definitely be back to Rarotonga, but we won't be staying at Rumours of Romance. There are many other beautiful places in Rarotonga, for half the cost.

Words cannot describe this property. This is the most magical place that I have every stayed. I am very well traveled and have stayed in properties all over the world and never experienced anything even close to this property. From the second we were picked up from the Airport we began to experience luxury. We were greeted wih gorgeous lays and then were taken right to the property. We checked in pain free and were taken right to our BEACHFRONT VILLA. When we arrived there was a basket of snacks with champagne just for us. The villas are magical. This property is located right on the beach. They are huge. We could walk right off of our porch onto the white sand and jump right in the lagoon. Along with the villas you get snorkeling and kayak equipment that is included in the price of the villa. We used both daily and there are TONS of fish right around the corner from Rumours. The decor in the villas are great! The bed was more comfortable than my bed at home. We had our own private pool and hottub. We spent the day in the pool and the night in the hottub. We also had our own garden shower. The place was so clean that you could eat off the floor. We had a massive flat screen TV on the wall, and the front desk as a huge selection of DVD's that you can rent. It is very exclusive, so you receive first class front desk services. From dinner suggestions to making reservations this front desk does it all. They are very informative and can arrange many different kinds of excursions or any kind of arrangement that you could possibly need. They have a chef service that can cook your dinner for you, or tons of brochures along with personal touch recommendations for restaurants on the island. The staff is so friendly too. I just enjoyed going in and talking to them. They were so very kind. We had the hamper lunch one day, and it was amazing. You can order this a day in advance from the front desk. It is soooo good. It has fresh fish, cheese, fruits and just an array of stuff. There is also a spa that is phenomenal. While we were there we each had two treatments, and it was wonderful. It probably was the best massage I have ever received. We also went to an Island Night while we were in the Cook Islands which I would totally recommend. The front desk can suggest one for you to attend. They got us into one that was totally booked up.We were gone for three weeks for our honeymoon and this was my favorite stop. I could have stayed a month here or more. We plan to make this a yearly trip to celebrate our anniversary. Don't waste your time looking at other properties. I can tell you we did, and we are so glad that we did not spend our honeymoon at any other property. Staying here is a must!!!
