We checked into the dorm room..me always going for budget..5 of us and then realised that for another $20 or so we could have a cottage..with large bathroom, lounge, sofas, table and comfy bed...looked so fab...
The place was buzzing with many locals coming to dinners at the restaurant and to drink at the bar..all very friendly.
We like to give our hard earned cash back to these small remote communties so used Dave from Karamea Transport to take us back to Nelson..He is wonderful and gave us heaps of local history and a tour of Westport on the way..
