A beautifull b&b and Nena was very friendly: super breakfast, usefull tips and a place where you feel at home immediately. Stemnitsa is a beautifull village and from here you can make easily a trip to Olimpia.

I can say a lot about the fantastic accommodation which is a truly amazing old house, impeccably restored and tastefully decorated! What puts it over the top is the hosting of Ms. Nena herself who is amazingly hospitable and helpful.
Sitting in the dinning room, eating breakfast made from home grown products, overlooking the beautiful village of Stemnitsa is an experience in itself.
I would go again in the blink of an eye, allowing for more days just for this ... thank you Nena.
Regards from Cyprus:)

Visiting relatives from long ago in a neighboring village we stayed in this great guest house. Nena, the owner, who grew up in this house long time ago has done a great job turning this house into a very nice guest house with lots of original details from the region, She took really good care of us advising us where to go and how to drive. And in the morning she prepared us a fabulous breakfast.

Mpelleiko is certainly one of the best guest houses I have ever stayed in my life. Nena has converted her grandparents house into this amazing guest house with all the comforts and everything you could possibly need. Nena is a hospitable and friendly woman that made our stay very special in her place, she makes the best breakfast (using local organic products) and she was very helpful giving us tips on things to do in the area. The guest house is beautifully decorated with nice views and the patios are great with nice plants and flowers. Nena thanks a lot again for the hospitality, staying at the guest house was the highlight of our trip and we will definitely come back.

It is difficult to believe that the ecstatic reviews are genuine until you arrive and sample Nena's hospitality. Mplelleiko is a traditional house built of stone and wood, perched high on the hill, with beautiful views, above the stunning little town of Stemnitsa. The spring flowers, the ancient monasteries (still manned by monks), the unspoiltness, the locals, the quiet, the walks, the Folk Museum are all wonderful. However it is Nena who makes it all come together with her warmth, generosity and kindness. She looked after us unstintingly: our room and bathroom combined comfort and charm, we had a lovely private terrace, the wi-fi connection was very useful, and Nena even went to the trouble of coming to fetch us from the town centre (although we could have easily found the way unaided). The house is full of books and maps. As a proper local, with excellent English, Nena was a huge help advising on what to do and where to go. Importantly to greedy guests like us, she prepared and served us delicious and enormous breakfasts (home made jam/local honey, hot frittata, yoghurt, cake, her own delicious bread and much more), while we sat far too long talking: Nena creates an atmosphere that makes friendships easy and our fellow travellers proved excellent company. The house had all the comforts of home and more - we enjoyed our visit enormously. An added bonus was the Gerousian bar in the village square, (5 minutes walk down the hill along stone alleys), run by a charming young couple, where we played backgammon and sat, eating delicious snacks under the acacia trees. The neighbouring restaurant (the only one open) served us simple but excellent local cuisine, at a very modest price. And I haven't even mentioned Nena's adorable dog......

We stayed in the principle room and donkey room as 4 kids and two adults with toddler.
The house is traditional style and beautiful and warm. The balcony and patios are lovely with pants flowers and views. Breakfast is all fresh and homemade by nena and she is a charming and gracious hostess who is very helpful to us.

It was a wonderful stay which we will repeat

Room Tip: the principle room is larger and balcony has lovely view and patio is nice but all rooms are lovely...

We are very late with this review, what with getting married and having a baby! We actually staued in 2009? We at stayed here while driving round Greece and the Peloponnese, had booked it online and didn't know what to expect. Nena was great at giving us directions in the phone and when we arrived we didn't want to leave! In fact when we moved on with our trip we decided we weren't happy and missed Mama Nena so much we drove to stay with her again from Pylos on the mainland! Crazy but well worth it. When we were there, a writer was composing a novel, and forecast the whole Greek financial collapse. We drank wine in our room, chatted over beers with others, sipped liqueurs made by Nena's own mother. Breakfast is indeed a treat, we had a Greek omelette, with extensive yoghurts, preserves and bread beforehand. Breakfast is not fast, so if you are in a rush, tell Nena! Otherwise, sit bak, slow down and enjoy the parade of treats. We were there out of tourist season so quite a lot of the village was closed, but even so, ate very well in the village restaurant. Our room was the donkey barn I believe, and was so romantic. We could have stayed forever and felt like we had found a real treasure, especially Nena and her mother, such amazing women. We really feel like we left some of our heart in Mpelleiko, and can't wait to go back again with our daughter. Nena is a marvel and deserves every success with this truly unique house. A treasure.

Room Tip: Ask Nena which room she recommends. But they are all lovely so you can't really go wrong.
