“Wonderful B and B”
Reviewed 24 October 2013 via mobile

I am so happy that we found the Mpelleiko. Nena is wonderful and makes everyone feel at home. The rooms are as nice as I have stayed in a B and B and the same can be said of the breakfast. The view of Stemnitsa is spectacular as well. I would love to visit Stemnitsa again and stay at the Mpelleiko.

Nena's beautiful family home in the village of Stemnitsa is a incredible immersion into Greek culture and village life. Nena's wealth of knowledge about the local area led us to wonderful food and beautiful hikes. Her breakfasts were amazing. We stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon and it was definitely one of the highlights.

Room Tip: Each of Nena's room has a different character. We stayed in the drawing room with a view over th...

The Mpelleiko is situated in the lovely little medieval town of Stemnitsa above the Lousios Gorge. The views are beautiful and there are many hiking trails.
The house dates from the 1650's and has been renovated with such love and wonderful taste that it is an experience in itself just to be there. Infinite attention has been given to even the smallest detail in order to create an atmosphere of comfort and beauty. Although it is a traditional home, it has all the comforts of a modern dwelling. Beautiful bathrooms, wifi, and more.
The owner, Nena, makes you feel at home immediately. Her hospitability, great breakfasts (which change everyday), and her friendly help and advice on where to travel and hike were a great boon to our stay. She even gave us trail maps to use during our stay.
Thank you Nena for a wonderful stay.
I recommend this place very highly and hope to return one day!

We stayed at Mpelleiko for two night and wished we could have stayed longer... The rooms are clean and very nice. Nena does evertything to make you feel at home. Nenas breakfast are homemade and very tastefull, a perfect start of the day!
Nena also arranged a cooking class for us, The children collected the herbs and vegetables from the garden and together we made a tradional Greek dinner. An evening we will never forget.

If, like us after several days of travel in Greece, you will want to have an opportunity to stop in a restful place, discuss your impressions and begin to unleash some, at least, of the questions that have filled your mind, you should try Hotel Mpelleiko and its delightful owner, Nena.

Mpelleiko means ‘bell maker’, and Nena’s ancestor, a bell maker, moved to Stemnitsa five hundred years ago. When her grandparents died, Nena gave up her career as a high school physics teacher to transform the family home into the present guesthouse. This traditional house is made of stone and wood, with spacious and comfortably furnished rooms and bathrooms, beautiful views over the rest of the village and the valley, and a well-tended garden in which to relax in the sun. Nena’s hospitality is warm and straightforward, and her homemade country breakfast is just a starting point. She keeps a good selection of guidebooks and maps of the region and is happy to advise about how to make the most of what is to be seen and experienced. The Folk Museum in the village is a very good presentation of the traditional way of life in a mountain village as well as the home of a wealthy family. Stemnitsa is also an ideal base from which to make a day trip to ancient Olympia.

Nena was very patient and engaged with our questions about contemporary Greece. She helped us to understand what it means to live in the present, surrounded by so much evidence of both glorious and turbulent eras of history.

A beautifull b&b and Nena was very friendly: super breakfast, usefull tips and a place where you feel at home immediately. Stemnitsa is a beautifull village and from here you can make easily a trip to Olimpia.

I can say a lot about the fantastic accommodation which is a truly amazing old house, impeccably restored and tastefully decorated! What puts it over the top is the hosting of Ms. Nena herself who is amazingly hospitable and helpful.
Sitting in the dinning room, eating breakfast made from home grown products, overlooking the beautiful village of Stemnitsa is an experience in itself.
I would go again in the blink of an eye, allowing for more days just for this ... thank you Nena.
Regards from Cyprus:)
