When I say authentic, that might make it sound like its trying to but no, this is 'just' a lovely English country house - as it should be. Beautiful to look at in pretty gardens, with interesting topiary and run by a really nice couple. Amanda gave us a great welcome and made us feel right at home.

We had the corner room looking over the garden, which has a fantastically uneven sloping floor which just adds to the charm. One small thing....the room is sufficiently big enough that the tv is too small...but then let's step back, you don't come to a place like this for the tv. I realised this and switched it off!

In my experience truly English places such as this, run by English owners, are increasingly a rarity, and I consider this a true find. If you are not from the UK you will love this....if you're from the far east you will go wild for it. Us Brits of course will just quietly, reservedly even, enjoy it.

We recently returned from a weekend stay at Lowgrathwaite Hall. What a lovely house with idillic grounds. A real country gettaway! As we turned into the drive we felt completely at home.
A country garden with stream and woodland features, with ducks and hens free to roam.
We were met by the host, Amanda, who was extremely helpful and showed us around. We stayed in a Kingsize room, which was so lovely. Cream painted panel walls with real character to the room, modern furnishings with ensuite facilities. Very tastefully decorated with a tranquil feel! Our lovely host cooked us a 3 coourse meal which was extremely tasty, and beautifully presented. We retired to the lounge with Log fire burning, so cosy!
The breakfast both mornings, we could not fault. The whole weekend, was so relaxing with a Luxury feel. We will definately return and have recommended a stay hear to all our friends and family. We hope to return soon.

Room Tip: The Kingsize room was named Tethera.

We stayed at Low Graythwaite in mid February 2012, and it was *such* a good stay. The place itself is gorgeous, all squashy armchairs and lovely fireplaces and excellent paintings, the hosts, Amanda and her husband and her Mum, are sweet and charming and informative and friendly, and the food is absolutely gorgeous; we had dinner there on the Saturday night (beef and ale pies with lovely veg, lemon posset, and very good wine), and a superb full English brekkie on the Sunday morning (with very good coffee indeed). Our room, Cunsey, was incredibly comfortable, decorated to a very high spec, with the comfiest B&B bed I've ever slept in. There's also a lovely walk down to Lake Windermere's edge too, which was rather magical in the snow...

Room Tip: We saw some of the other rooms, ones our friends were staying in, and they all looked lovely too...

I think you could visit this fantastic pace at any time of year and be very, very happy. But staying in The Lakes and at Low Graythwaite Hall during a snow flurry was magical. The grounds are really pretty and this is a splendid base for a lakeland holiday. There is a residents lounge with a massive, roaring fire and big, comfy sofas and chairs. The walls of the place must be three feet thick and when you pull the window shutters to and draw the deep curtains the place is toasty and feels impenetrable.

The owners have got this place TOTALLY right. The quality of the building, the rooms, the food, the drink and the little details is absolutely spot on. The food (breakfast and lunch) is cooked for you from fresh ingredients and served at a relaxed pace. There's a good selection of wines and beers - and afternoon tea and a slice of cake was a treat.

There's a lot to say about this magical place, but it's probably better that you go and find it for yourself, rather than read about it on a review web-site. The owners could not be more welcoming, kind and convivial. The best thing I can say about Low Graythwaite Hall is that it is like visiting your friends, and is a very nice alternative to staying in chain hotels.

The worst thing about the place was having to leave. We will definitely go back. Soon !

A charming house comfortably set out and hospitality second to none - tempted - you should be. We were so pleased to discover Low Greythwaite with lovely gardens speckled with interesting topiary and chatty chickens walking around. The house is cosy and welcoming (nice roaring fire in the Drawing Room) and a good nights sleep is guaranteed. Breakfast was tasty and the option to be able to have an evening meal was very gratefully received as we had had a long drive on the two occasions we visited in December. An added bonus that my husband enjoyed were the interesting beers that were on offer prior to dinner. We are returning in February and going back to Low Greythwaite will be the highlight of our trip.

We have just returned from Low Graythwaite Hall, what a wonderful place!
The owners are lovely, friendly and welcoming - nothing is too much trouble. They know their stuff ensuring you have a perfect stay, and welcoming you like friends into their beautiful home.
The Hall is beautiful, atmospheric & full of history but is also comfortable, luxurious & just gorgeous. It's very tastefully decorated with gorgeous rooms and is immaculately kept. There is plenty of space too.Great location
It's hard to describe it just as a B&B - the food is excellent - fabulous breakfast and you can book an equally fabulous evening meal in the beautiful dining room - it's probably clear I can't recommend this place enough!

Room Tip: check them on the website
