Southwest Mauritius Day Trip: Chamarel Waterfall...
Reviewed 3 weeks ago via mobile

Was nice to see as visiting Mauritius, but wouldn’t go again. Tried to see the 7 colours but not sure if there was 7. Worth a visit if you’re down south and have time.

Nice drive up the mountain to see, and we enjoyed the nearby Ebony Forrest information centre, but were hugely underwhelmed by the seven coloured earths display. We found it quite small, and unremarkable.

Amazing place to visit. Specially when the sun is shining and the soil is dry all the colors are very good visible.
The area has become touristic with path ways, entry gates, a little restaurant etc but that does not really matter, this staýs a must see place.

We visited Chamarel coloured earth on a Thursday.
Rs225 entry fee per tourist.
What surprised me most is that the soil is apparently totally demineralised which prevents plants from growing there. Not clear if the topsoil had to be removed to reveal this coloured wonder!?

The visit here includes a waterfall and tortoises and well as the 7 coloured earths. The whole thing is interesting to see and certainly we were glad we went. It is well laid out and in June wasn't too busy.
