After a beautiful day in Chamarel, it was great to find an authentic, local restaurant that had a good mix of local Mauritians and tourists.
The welcome was as warm as you will ever get in Mauritius.
The food was good and wholesome, served without too much fuss: the freshness and taste of the produce was allowed to speak for itself.
The seafood salad was amazing. Even some of the snacks, such as the crispy chicken, is cooked well, with Mauritian flavours.
The owner came over to check everything was okay: it is clear he takes pride in his restaurant.
The bill was reasonable - we have paid a lot more, for far less quality, elsewhere on the island.
All in all: a good and solid place to go, a place doing the right thing, for the right price.
I don't think you can go wrong here. A great find for when you get out of the hotel, or you are sick of the all-inclusive meals.
