Great value for money. Excellent base for exploring the area of Rio Lagartos. Hotel staff are very friendly and offer a very warm welcome. Comes with excellent tourist map and insider knowledge of the local area and the best things to do.
Can organise wildlife tours. That's a plus as booking them online is over priced.
Feeling very happy with our stay

The rooms are basic and only somewhat clean, and the WiFi spotty. The hotel is not located on the malecon but in the town center which can be noisy depending on where your room is located as folks play ball till very late at night. But what really makes up for the hassle are the wonderful folks at the front desk. Our guaranteed rooms were given away by the Posada Mercy Inn and we landed up at the reception here at Hotel Tabasco Rio unsure as to what to do since it was late at night. The kind (blonde) lady let us connect to the WiFi and search for hotels. When none showed as available, she called hotels in neighbouring San Felipe and found us one. The next day we were back and stayed for 2 nights with them, each time experiencing good customer service from all of the front desk folks.

We stayed one night at Tabasco hotel as we wanted to go see the Flamingos and fisherman's places around. The place has a good quality/ price ratio and was great for 3 friends travelling. If you are looking to take a boat trip to visit Flamingos, Las Colorades place, ask at the reception and you will get a nice guide speaking English which is hard to find in this remote but we'll preserved place. They pick you up at the hotel. Best times to go are really early for sunrise or late for sunset. Enjoy

Nice, simple and clean hotel for very good price. In the middle of small, charming fishing village. Only tours offering in hotel are much more expensive as on other places. For example they offered us 2 hours boat trip for 900 pesos for 2 people, but we found same trip for 600 pesos just 100 meters away from the hotel.

Check earlier reviews, all true regarding humidity smell and potential noise problem from the common room. But we were lucky: it was not so hot so we mostly had the windows open and there was nobody using the common room. Good location and fair price. But the room was not cleaned on the first day. Loved the town, would stay longer!

The rooms and amenities are ok. Reception price was 650 in November 2015, low season.

They have a humidity problem in the bathrooms, mold on them and some smell, I think it's something that can be solved, and the management must do something about it, so the good work on other parts in the hotel is not lost due to this details. I mean it's next to the sea and all but it's a winnable battle.
