“Luxury Resort with a classic Raffles touch”
Reviewed 13 January 2014

We stayed for two nights at the Raffles Hainan and it was a great experience. The suite was gorgeous and amenities were top-notch. Ben Wang (Concierge) and Karen (Reception) were very helpful and polite. The view of the beach was really beautiful and the pool was well-maintained. Definitely a good choice for a simple, relaxing holiday.

We stayed here for a five-night 'getaway' from air polluted Beijing. The resort is a bit away from the urban of Sanya (about 50 minutes drive from the airport) but itself can be a destination for relaxation and it's close to the Monkey Island where the sea view cable car can be of fun. The hotel is located right beside the sea and the beach which is just 5 minutes walk away from our room is a great place for our baby (15 month). We were upgraded to a junior suite with great facilities and the greeting message from the GM appears on the TV screen upon arrival is very impressive. Curtains and lights are controlled by the automatic system. The funiture put a lot of emphasis on wood artwork and looks very natural in the environment. We enjoyed a lot of the balcony because it has such great sea view and the set up is just perfect for relaxing while getting the breeze from the sea. The room is very clean and the housekeeper is very helpful in folding our own blanket for the baby when we left the room.

The buffet breakfast is very abundant with lots of choices and open until 11am (which is good for us:)) Although we didn't have the opportunity to try the pool because of the weather but it looks very pleasant and we save it for the next visit.

The birds shape copper sculptures all over the place is another great thing that baby Bruce enjoyed a lot besides the Raffles Children Rascal.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. We got a flat tyre on our way there. Even though it's midnight the concierge staff and the night manager Danny are so helpful in helping us find a store to repair very fast.

It was a nice holiday and good place for relax. Hope next time we can enjoy more of the pool and beach.

We are currently living in Shanghai, the air quality was (still is) so bad that we decided to go to Hainan to breath some fresh air, especially our 7 months old baby needs it. We didn't choose Sanya (where I was there in 2004 and 2005) because it's too crowded for us.

The hotel is 40- 50 min. drive from Sanya airport. Very nice and elegant architecture, blend of local and Balinese style. Many of interior decoration are art works collected from the local people, it indeed shows the great taste of the designer. The room is large, the entire wall to the balcony is made of glass doors, what a wonderful ocean view. The bathroom is large with a highly functional dressing room. The balcony is also large and ideal for enjoying a wonderful evening with family or friends in the moon light while listening to ocean waves and drinking beer or wine. Room is also equipped with a Nespresso machine and coffee capsules free of charge.

The service is most impressive among all those 5 star hotels in which I stayed in China. Hotel staffs were always smiling and attentive, happy to help at any time. During my stay I got to know two restaurant managers and front desk manager, they are all very helpful. After I decided to stay longer for my birthday I got a room upgrade to a 170sqm suite from Francis, the front desk manager, I really appreciated. They also offered us a baby stroller, made fresh apple puree for our baby. You can even get diapers from their shop. This hotel is absolutely children-friendly.

Breakfast is abundant with big variety, both Chinese and Western. Their restaurants also offer good food. I still remember the yummy grilled tiger prawns. From Italian restaurant manager Annie I received a bunch of roses at my birthday dinner, a very pleasant surprise. They brought delicious birthday cake as our dessert, how lovely!

The beach is very long, quiet and beautiful. We loved to walk on it with our son.

Hainan Raffles, we will definitely come back again.

As it was during the low season, there were very few guests, so the hotel is nice and quiet. The location is great, directly on the beach side with a park like garden. However, it is quite remote from any shops or restaurants outside of the hotel, so one needs a car.
The hotel is new; most service staff is very friendly and polite. In particular, the restaurant staff are all service minded, very well trained and friendly during breakfast time. I am very grateful for the excellent services given, especially by Miss Rita Huang and the restaurant manager Marilyn Jin.
The room (I was upgraded to a sea front room with large balcony) is clean and well equipped like a true five-star hotel.
The only problem I had been with the reservation department. However, the issue was solved to my satisfaction, although some discussions were needed.
The prices of the SPA seem to be extremely high, more expensive than the price in the luxury hotels in Europe!

I arrived the day after the typhoon had hit, so I was very lucky to be on the right side of the weather. The hotel is a good drive from Sanya airport and also Sanya city, but has enough in the compound if you are just looking to relax and have a quiet stay. The staff are all very friendly throughout the hotel and in general offered good service, there were a couple small issues, like saying they couldn't make items on the menu, until I asked why and then they all of a sudden became available - not the end of the world, but not ideal - especially when one was a vanilla milkshake.
I ate at all the restaurants, the food was good throughout, breakfast was great and the manager Lerry and server Stella took great care. Room service food too, was very good.
Rooms were huge and I had a great balcony to watch the sea golfers play. I didn't use the bar as the band had apparently been cancelled due to the lack of guests, there was no one in when I went down for a look, except 3 staff sitting playing on their phones.
I would return for sure, and I think with a little more time to establish the hotel it will be a great place.

Room Tip: The high floor offered a great view of the ocean, pay the extra, it is worth it.

My husband and I live in Sanya and wanted to get away from noise and crowds for a couple of days. Of course, there are lots of resorts to chose from and luckily we chose Raffles. This resort has beautiful gardens, great pool, beautiful golf course, amazing rooms, delicious food and exceptional service.
The rooms are tastefully decorated with big balconies and best of all the automatic toilet. I was ready to move in for as long as I work in Sanya.
We had the breakfast buffet and dinner at the Italian restaurant,  both places were outstanding . The most delicious item we tried at the Italian restaurant was the Osso Bucco. Service was exceptional at both restaurants. Tina Yang at the Italian restaurant made our dinner even more pleasurable. So, thank you Colin (F&B) for making our stay a wonderful experience.
Service/staff at this hotel is the best. Everybody smiled or greeted us with a smile.
