“Simply charming!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2013

We had a really lovely 5 nights at Quinta da Scota after 2 nights in Lisbon. Tony and Penny are the ideal hosts and clearly take great delight in helping their guests have the best possible time - beautiful accommodation, lovely breakfasts, very handy guest kitchen and all the advice you need to make the most of your stay. Simply charming.

We have had a wonderful time with our 2,5 year old son. He especially loved the grounds to run around and the pool.
Tony and Penny are wonderful and caring hosts and will give you all the insider suggestions you need to find the best spots and restaurants.
The Quinta is located very central and within 15 min you could be in Lisbon, the beach (Cascais) or in Sintra to visit the amazing castles.
Our room was huge and comfortable and clean with a big bathroom. Behind the pool area is a BBQ which one can use.
Important for young parents like us was the free Wi-Fi in the room, in order to watch a movie while junior was asleep.
The location seems like the middle of nowhere, but it is really central and has good local restaurants close by.
We will come again! A very good adress if you plan a trip to the Sintra & Lisbon region.

We stayed in Quinta do Scoto during our last day in Portugal, just before flying back home.

The amount of effort that Tony and Penny invest in making you feel at home is beyond imagination. I have never had such a warm welcome anywhere!

The Quinta is beautifullly restored, with very spacious rooms (some of the biggest I've ever had the priviledge to stay in), including large modern bathrooms. The breakfast buffet is plentyfull compared to other breakfast buffets we've had in Portugal, but don't expect a full English breakfast. The swimming pool is large and very well maintained, as are the gardens surrounding the Quinta.

It is some distance away from Lisbon (+-20min drive by car). But the trainstation is nearby, so you could easily grab the train to visit Lisbon if you don't have a car available.

We had a wonderful 7 days at the Quinta - all 22 of us! Tony, Penny and Charlotte were most accommodating of our family reunion and worked tirelessly to meet the needs of such a varied group (ages 11-70+). The rooms were clean and very spacious with wonderful bathrooms (and accessible for the older people in our group). Whether taking a nice bath after a long day, or a hot shower – the water pressure was great!

The morning breakfast was splendid, and sufficient to launch us into our daily adventures. Tony’s advice on local areas to visit was welcome and helpful. The pool was spectacular and well used by all the kids. Overall, the grounds and facilities enabled us to spend a relaxed and peace filled time, without getting into each others way.

Our time at the Quinta was more than memorable, and made so special by our gracious hosts. We (all 22 of us) highly recommend a stay here. You won’t regret it!

Room Tip: Lower rooms are more practical for families with young kids, or people with mobility challenges.

My 12 year old daughter and I spent 5 nights at the Quinta and enjoyed every minute. Our suite in the main house was very spacious, with incredibly comfortable beds and a great shower. The breakfasts were excellent, and we experienced wonderful service from Tony and Penny - a great balance of them being on hand if we needed advice but at no point overpowering or intrusive. The little extras, such as complimentary drinks in the fridge, and the excellent comprehensive local information provided, such as how to use the train system and maps to local restaurants, were much appreciated and helped our holiday go smoothly. The 2 restaurants within a 10 minute walk were fantastic value for money - we enjoyed sardines and octopus one lunchtime, and an amazing monkfish, prawn and rice dish one evening washed down with local wine. We loved relaxing by the stunning pool on very comfy loungers, and the location was excellent for trips into Lisbon and Sintra by train. A taste of authentic Portugal, and one we can't wait to repeat next year!

We had a wonderful one night stay at the Quinta.
The premises are very well kept and we loved the traditional decor in our spacious room. There are many special touches to make you feel welcome, such as the cold drinks on arrival; the complimentary drinks in the fridge in your room; a good selection of toiletries and the large pool towels.
We loved the double doors leading directly from our room onto the beautiful pool area. The breakfast was very enjoyable and relaxed.
It is clear that a lot of thought has been given to what travellers need, so there is a guest kitchen; a barbecue and drying area in the garden. In addition we really appreciated Tony and Penny's advice on places to eat, park visit etc.
The relaxed atmosphere helps you to feel like a very welcome house guest. Penny and Tony even continued to help us with a problem we expereinced with our car after we had left the Quinta which was really appreciated.
The only negative was that we could only stay one night. We hope to return next year for a much longer stay!

We spent 6 days staying at the Quinta do Scoto run by Tony, Penny and Charlotte. It was relaxed, charming, very peaceful and everything we wanted for accommodation in this part of Portugal. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and have all the small touches that made our stay comfortable. We had great advice from Tony and Penny and starting with the the fantastic breakfast to the choice of many good restaurants in the evening. Each day was really great. There were 5 of us staying - myself, my wife and our three teenage children. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. Lovely.
