“Wonderful hilltop retreat!”
Reviewed 6 November 2012

We booked a double room with balcony here for 2 nights during a trip to Graz. The hotel is on top of a hill just below the clouds with a panoramic view of countryside and distant snow topped mountains, about 15 minutes drive from Graz centre. The air is wonderful and makes for a great night's sleep. The staff are very polite and welcoming, there is a spa area in the basement with every wellness treatment available from sauna to steam room to tanning machine to manicure and pedicure, waxing procedures and massages. I had a good back massage but did feel quite cold during the 30 minute treatment. I suggest they disinfect the area where you are supposed to put your face as it smelled really badly of sweat - am not sue if it was the towels, the actual "hole" area or the floor below. There is an outdoor pool which is not operational in the winter. The room we had was very large with a door onto the balcony, plenty of wardrobe space, separate WC and large bathroom with spacious semi circular shower and a square trough washbowl. No mini bar but there was space for a fridge - perhaps they will introduce these in the future. Bathrobes were available from reception for some reason and not in the bedrooms, although you did get plenty of towels and even towels for use in the sauna. There were some complimentary shower/shampoo and body lotion but nothing too fancy. No bathcaps which is a favourite of mine I have to admit. The room was very nice but I felt it was lacking something although am not sure what. There was a modern flat screen TV. We brought our own travel kettle as there was no tea/coffee making facility in the room. Plenty of plugs and free wifi. We ate dinner at the restaurant the night we arrived which was delicious and the staff were very accommodating when I asked if there was a chance I could have fish instead of meat for the main. The first course was a few deep fried shrimp on ruccola with cherry tomatoes and balsamic dressing, the pumpkin soup was amazing, the main dishes were very good and dessert was wonderful - typical Styrain strudel pastry with a cream cheese filling accompanied by vanilla sauce with raspberry flavoured coulis leaves swirled on top of the vanilla. We had beer and a generous glass of wine and it was very reasonably priced. All in all it was a good stay despite never finding out what woke us at 4:10 a.m. on the first night which sounded like an airbus 380 landing in front of our window!

Room Tip: 322 was a room with a balcony and an amazing view. Ask for another pillow as they only offer one ea...

This family run hotel is indeed alittle gem hidden the the Austrian country side however as we discovered is only 15 mins drive to the center of Graz.
The hotel staff are very welcoming and helpful in all aspects. Special thanks must to go to the owners daughter who kindly took time to help and advise us on where to go and what to see in Graz.Everyones English is excellent.
We enjoyed very much the excellent dinners we had on both evenings we stayed. There was a wide breakfast chioce and eggs could be made to oder no problem
The room we had was large and very comfortable.free wifi was great.
Pool towels and fluffy rodes were availble for the wonderful pool which was a pleasure to return to after a days sight seeing. Beauty treatments were availabile however sadly didn't have time to try any.
I would highly reccommend this hotel and hope to return one day

Room Tip: The higher floor the better for looking over the amazing countryside. Reserve a table on the terrec...

Very friendly, family-owned but professionally run hotel, in a beautiful setting. Our room had a balcony overlooking pasture land and green hills behind. Modern facilities, including free wi-fi throughout the hotel. Good European breakfast.

Excellent restaurant providing delicious food well-presented.

One downside for us was the lack of air conditioning, as the weather was very warm with hardly any breeze during our stay.

Room Tip: Lovely views from the back of the hotel

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and were sooo sorry that we had to leave. Family Liebmann is so friendly and helpful, you feel very welcome. It's a cozy hotel with a lot of personal attention. The rooms are good, very clean with an amazing view into the hills. The facilties are very good, a very high quality and modern sauna, very nice swimming. pool looking over the Austria hills. Just ask mr. or mrs. Liebmann for things to do in the neighbourhood, we visited very nice wineries and made magnificent drives over the small roads in the Steiermark area; the area of Austria we fell in love with. Next time (we come back!) we will stay again in this hotel!

Desperate for a place to stay en-route Prague to Croatia via Austria and Hungary, we took wrong turn in the dark and ended up in this VERY quiet health resort. It was 10.00pm and not a person to be seen. The manager came down in his nightshirt! but was very polite. He found us a very clean, modern room a bit like a Holiday Inn - but fully equipped for the elderly and disabled. Breakfast was typical, healthy Austrian with an unexpected treat - beautiful valley views. Every other guest over 75 - so not exactly noisy in the restaurant. If you find yuorself near Graz and looking for a quiet night, try this!
