“Great Golf / Poor Food Safety at Snack Shack”

Bear Mountain Golf Resort - Valley Course

Attraction details
Owner description: The Valley course meanders through forest, borders lakes, and traverses creeks and rivers throughout its 18 holes, while offering spectacular views of Vancouver Island's beautiful landscape. In contrast to the existing Mountain course, the par 71 Valley course measures 6807 yards from the Golden Bear tees - around 400 yards shorter than its sibling. Factor in elevated tee boxes, more generous fairway widths, fewer bunkers and larger greens and the Valley course will likely be considered a 'friendlier' version of the original. Rolling through terrain at elevations of between 300 and 500 feet above sea level, there is still plenty of challenge, and many holes that could be considered the signature hole.

Straight from the ferry we went out onto the course. Staff were friendly and helpful. Carts has GPS which was super. We loved the "vacation" golf and would like to play the course again. The young lady at the snack shack had terrible food safety. She was reading a book outside and when we drove up she proceeded to make our hotdogs without washing her hands. I asked her to wash her hands and she did and then she got so nervous she dropped the bun. (But started over fresh). When you put your hands in your hair and then go to fix someones food... hmmm... she and all food handlers should know better. She didn't, so I told her.

This has a feel of a Mexican resort golf course. Not as brutal as the Mountain course it gives 'lesser talented, regular folks' a chance to survive. I enjoy the layout, fun holes, and lots of challenge.

some very unusual holes, a couple of blind shots, but if the 19th hole at the top is open, take an extra ball!!! nicely maintained, good lunches
