Landlady was not the happiest and didn’t listen correctly when we ordered drinks. Several times we said no ice but ice still came in one drink. Felt awkward mentioning it and rather than pour another juice, landlady scooped the ice out of the glass, didn’t bother to top it up and returned it as if it was our fault. The menu is limited and pricey with small portions. We waited ages and one meal was incorrect so we couldn’t all start eating at the same time. My portion of Steak pie, chips and peas was just enough for a small child and nowhere near enough for an adult and it wasn’t so special. All the deserts are over £5 and nothing special.

We ate twice here on a recent holiday to Mawgan Porth. On the first occasion we had Sunday Lunch in the garden, We had walked from Mawgan Porth which takes about half an hour with the children, had not intended to eat a big meal but could not resist when we saw this place. Very tasty home made roast beef and yorkshire pud with a variety of freshly cooked veg. Others in our party had the burger which they said was delicious and I also saw a man eating a plate of prawns which were tempting.
The next occasion was an evening meal where we ate in the pub due to the rain, the main eating area was full and the place was busy but this did not stop the staff being very helpful and friendly. We were with our two young children and were greeted by very friendly staff who said it was not a problem to eat at other tables, they helped us find chairs and even helped us move to a larger table when one became available. On the second occasion I tried the Pork chops, two huge and very tender chops with a mustard sauce and new potatoes (my husband said he'd never tasted such good potatoes) and again beautifully cooked fresh veg, needless to say I cleared the plate!. For pud we opted for a large ice cream with chocolate sauce and four spoons! I highly recomend this place for eating out, it is doing just what a pub should be doing, no frills, the menu is not too extensive, just beautifully cooked food served with a smile.

Room Tip: Also try the post office tea room for a cream tea at St Mawgan, if you are into looking around churc...

Its a beautiful village. The pub itself is really nice and clean and very postcard looking. Drinks are priced the same as everywhere but the food is pricey for what you get. The whole eating side of the Falcon is where things are not so great.
The portions are meagre to say the least for the price. Cutlery had pieces of old food on much of it where they had not been cleaned properly. We had the roast. I ordered a roast beef for my wife and turkey for me. They brought out two roast beefs. Roast spuds were really bad-rubbery and greasy. We had a teeny tiny dish of cold veg between us and the meat was sparse (we left there hungry actually).
The biggest shock was the large piece of silver foil I found embedded INSIDE my yorkshire pudding (burnt). I called a waitress over and showed her. She took it away and replaced it with two fresh ones (still burnt). She was very polite. The other staff were mostly ok but they looked unhappy to be honest.
Parking can be tight. There is a playpark a few yards away which is clean, safe and quiet. A very pretty stream and a ford are close by and the area itself really is very pretty indeed.

Lovely looking pub. Landlady was a bit grumpy. Clean pub and toilets good and very clean. But the food is simply awful and terribly overpriced for what you get and to a poor standard.

We turned up without booking to find the pub very full and no spare tables, however our names were taken and we were soon found a table. The menu was great, not cheap but not expensive, but lots to choose from and great size portions, we were sad we had no room for a pudding as they looked great. The staff were super friendly and the service very good. 4 main meals & 2 starters & coffee =£60

Stopped in here after a long walk for a spot of lunch on our way back to The Scarlet Hotel which is down the road in Mawgan Porth. Nice locals ales, very picturesque location, friendly staff, the food when we finally got it was nice. Nothing special but nicer than your average pub food.

The only issue was service, we ordered a crab salad and a ploughmans, its took about 45 mins for two cold salads to be prepared! Reason being a table of 17 had ordered just before us! Sorry note to chef - sort the simple salads first OR at least warn clients there going to be delay and maybe offer us bread and a drink.

Have to agree with another reviewer that when i finally moaned there was minor apology from the staff with a comment you should moan to her over there? Sorry the owner / restaurant manager should have known about this and come over and apologised whilst we were eating.

To summarise good for drinks, don't arrive starving or in a rush to eat.

We've visited the area before and discovered this lovely pub. GReat friendly service and after a long journey, waiting to get on our campsite, we had only one place in mind to go for lunch. We were not disappointed. We were welcomed by the friendly staff and the food was excellent value and good quality. It has a lovely beer garden and a pretty court yard area with flowers and lovely rustic tables.
Highly recommend for a peaceful, quaint village setting with lovely food and great staff.

After researching lots of places to eat in and around Newquay, we chose here due to the reviews, but we were left feeling disappointed. The only member of staff who made us feel welcome was apparently new. The only people who appeared to receive a welcome reception were the locals. The restaurant was virtually empty when we arrived about 6pm and when we asked for a table for 3 we were told that we could have a table in in the main part if we finished before 7.30 or could sit in the pub. Meal selections for our 12 yr old were limited so she ended up choosing from the childrens menu which was sufficient. I chose chicken in taragon sauce and was surprised to find that the chicken was the leg and thigh, deep fried and was too tough for either my teeth or knife to get through. There was barely any sauce either so I ended up leaving it. Being typically british, I am not in the habit of complaining, but when the plates were collected I did mention my disappointment. The response I got was "I will mention it to the chef". No further response or apology was offered. I know the standard of the lasagne on the table next to ours was equally low. We felt no need to outstay our welcome and were finished and paid by 7pm. The bill came to £42.50 for 2 mains & 1 childs, and 1 drink each. Had the food or welcome been better we would have had at least a 2nd drink, dessert or coffees and spent a good part of the evening there. We may have caught them on an off day but I honestly felt they couldn't care less about out opinion, presumably as we were just visitors and unlikely to return. We are most definitely going to return to the area, and most definitely choose somewhere else to eat next time.
