Sedate surroundings in the lush green countryside outside Pontremoli. We were in a large party of 12 eating in the hotel restaurant.. not very busy considering it was the end of 'ferie' the August holidays!
Set menu - no choices. Starter of Parma ham/ figs, followed by duck with gnocchi served with a tasty sauce. Main course of Entrecote steak - we were not asked how we wished steak to be cooked - as served medium rare. Meal finished off with a scrumptious strawberry mousse on crunchy biscuit base. Service prompt and fairly friendly overall.
A local painting exhibition in the residents lounge was being held. I could'nt put my finger on what exactly prevented the hotel to be somewhat lacking in ambience during our visit.
